Beauport Hotel Gloucester, hotel in Essex

Offering a seasonal rooftop pool and bar, and sun terrace, Beauport Hotel Gloucester is located in Gloucester, MA, overlooking Gloucester Harbor, Pavilion Beach and the Atlantic Ocean.

The location was unbeatable. We got an oceanfront view with the balcony so it was nice to be able to wake up to the waves and sitting outside albeit a bit cold in April. It was also very close to several restaurants on Main St. Would definitely do another staycation here!

Harborview Inn, hotel in Essex

This Gloucester bed and breakfast is directly across from the harbor and features uniquely styled rooms, each with a private bathroom. Various shops and restaurants are within a 10-minute walk.

John was extremely attentive and friendly. We felt like we were staying at the home of a family member. A charming bed and breakfast with a beautiful view, can’t wait to come back in the summer. We also got to enjoy a free continental breakfast with a local, who also made us feel at home and spoke about so many wonderful things in town to do. 10/10!

CbytheSea - Ocean View Penthouse, hotel in Essex

CbytheSea - Ocean View Penthouse is a recently renovated apartment in Gloucester, near Pavilion Beach. Both free Wifi and parking on-site are accessible at the apartment free of charge.

The lighting and location were both magnificent. When I booked, I told them I was needing to use the kitchen to feed four people. I wasn’t going to cook. I brought food with me. Soups and stews. I couldn’t heat them in one batch. There was one small pot and three soup spoons and three bowls. Not the biggest deal. But disappointing since I asked specifically. The shower backed up to my ankles. It would have been deeper , but the hot water lasted ran out quickly. This location was a splurge. I was the only one sleeping there. My son lives locally in a small apt. I could have stayed in a high end hotel, but wanted to have a place to gather with my sons. I specified that. After not having hot water, I called the number they left. They were so gracious and upset that both those things happened. The cleaning service ( or management group) was held responsible and I was promised a 20% refund which I never received. It’s been 7 weeks. I tried contacting owners, they no longer answer. Gloucester is pure magic. The location is great. This was a major disappointment. Especially having booked accommodations way out of my price range. I have never written a negative review before. It pains me to write this one b/c I was so certain the owners would do the right thing and make sure that booking.com did the same. I will post an update if I finally get my 20%.

The Beverly enjoys a location in Beverly, 4.9 miles from The House of the Seven Gables and 20 miles from Cambridge College.

Great facility and location! We had one, small hiccup getting our door code when checking in - but once that was resolved, our stay was perfect. I would highly recommend The Beverly, and will definitely stay there again the next time we are in town!

Essex is a small town with a causeway with a boat marina along the Essex River. There are many antique stores, several excellent restaurants with a nice variety of menus, a brewery, and a variety of shops with local artisans wares. There is also a Ship Building Museum, Essex River Cruises, kayaking rentals, historic buildings ( the Congregational church has a Paul Revere Bell) and old graveyard. It is a interesting town to visit.

It is a great place for seafood however the restaurants are a bit pricey. There is only about 1 place to get breakfast in Essex but the food is good, eat in or take out and the personnel are friendly.
