This is in regard to The hotel, not the area (which we liked). I forgot to mention it when I reviewed earlier. We had arrived from Florida earlier than expected, and much to our delight, they let us check in a couple of hours early. Was a great relief, and much appreciated.

We reserved a room with two queen beds.

We reserved a room with two queen beds. They gave us a room with a king and a fold-out couch. When we tried to get moved to a room with two queens, they told us they were fully booked, without even an apology. It sucked that someone had to sleep on an uncomfortable pull-out couch when it should have been a bed--if we had known we wouldn't get a room with two queens, we would have booked a different hotel. There was also no bedding in the room for the pull-out couch "bed", so once we realized this we had to go down again to get bedding and then make our own bed after a long day of driving. The bedding provided for the couch was a sheet and a very thin "blanket" so that the person on the couch, which was right beside the air conditioner, was freezing. Worse than the bed situation was that the room, which was supposed to be non-smoking, smelled strongly of smoke. This made it hard to fall asleep and the smell gave me a migraine that lasted the whole next day, ruining a full day of vacation. Also, I've never had cause to notice the cleanliness of a hotel's walls before, but the walls in the room were full-on dirty. And not to pile on, but the TV didn't work. Not the worst thing, by any stretch, but we really could have used the distraction from the place we were in, haha. Overall it was one of the most unpleasant hotel stays I've ever had, and I was extremely sad that we had paid over $200 for something so awful. We couldn't get out of there fast enough in the morning.

Don't try to get anything to eat after 10 pm.

Don't try to get anything to eat after 10 pm. Everything closes, leaving you in a rut. Lots to see, but not much to do. Great if you're just going to get away for a bit and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

    Friendliness of the staff

Friendliness of the staff the complimentary breakfast left a lot to be desired. You need someone there to monitor when items run out and quickly replace it. If you are going to include breakfast take pride in the details.

I used to live there during one of my Out-of-Retirement work adventures. Great places to eat. For sure go to Taco Macs and have the wings and nachos with a couple of the over 100 beers they have on tap. Some very good steak places nearby also as well as some great shopping. Wonderful place to visit. If you play golf there are some great courses close by - St. Ives is very nice and if you know some one the Atlanta Athletic Club is just down the street. Lots of things to see in Atlanta also but you have to be ready to deal with the traffic.

Great area with lots of shopping and places to eat.

Great area with lots of shopping and places to eat. We ate at Cheeseburger Bobby's. It's a really good burger place with reasonable prices. Also had a croissant from Panera (always good). Although there is a lot of traffic, it did not bog down; no delays due to traffic.
