We were there for geology, and the area delivered!
We were there for geology, and the area delivered! Ellensburg downtown is great for food and is a short and scenic drive away along Vantage highway, a route we discovered from the host’s informational packet (don’t take I-90!). We want to come back to visit some of the other sites recommended by the host (Yakima canyon, petrified forest, and the wind farm info center).JohnUnited States of America - 8.0Scored 8.0

We loved finding the treasure of a book store called Bailey’s Bibliomania. And we really enjoyed the game at The Time Out restaurant while eating the best cheese burgers. While Kittitas is very small and somewhat low on local...
While Kittitas is very small and somewhat low on local amenities, it is clear the town is working on improving. Honestly, the Main Street, on which you’ll find Brew House Boarding guest suites, is a perfect example. This is a nearly untouched old west town and gives the traveler a nice insight into life in such a town over the decades. The current move to renovate the old buildings on Main Street is a perfect start to bringing this town into the 21st century while retaining its small-town charm. The building that houses the guest suites of Brew House Boarding was built around 1912 and has housed many businesses over the past century, including the local newspaper until this past year. An informational plaque on the front of the building details the building’s history. Below the guest suites is a new brewery/wine bar, The Thrall & Dodge Winery Tasting Room, that offers wine, beer and meat/cheese plates. We enjoy learning local history and Kittitas, a true old west town, and nearby Ellensburg, with a decent selection of interesting restaurants, was a great stop for us.
