We like to see shows at the Fox Theater, and when we do, we stay at the Moxy hotel and walk there. There are several great eateries in the neighborhood. I recommend HotBird if you like fried chicken! We have never felt unsafe walking this neighborhood. There are a lot of homeless people, which is sad to see.

Oakland is a unique diverse town full of so many different types of cool cultures. I like the culture from The East, West and the North because each area has a different flavor or style to add to the town. There is one thing that bothers me. The homeless crisis is excessive. Affordable housing especially to born and raised in Oakland individuals are housed after out of towers. The majority of Oakland's employers are not even from Oakland. It would be nice to allow Oakland to return to Oakland and allow only Oakland to accommodate it's visitors instead of our visitors becoming our hosts in our own Town and selling our products back to us, ITS A STEAL before our eyes .

Oakland has a high population of homeless people I wasn't aware of. Some areas were better than other but every where you looked was broke down cars with broken widows and tagged on, along with trash everywhere, homeless people and tagging everywhere .
Maybe it's just the area I ended up at, hoping there's more than what I seen.!!!

I think West coast cities are damaged goods at this point.
I think West coast cities are damaged goods at this point.
I will not recommend San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Portland, Seattle nor Vancouver.
These places used to have terrific live music, comedy, food, safe walkable neighborhoods and scenery at prices that were justified but the homelessness, filth, gunfire and in-your-face politics make it less enjoyable.
I would sooner go to a smaller city like Salt Lake, Cleveland, Tacoma, Richmond now. Some of those places have some of the same challenges but the prices will be lower and you can enjoy yourself without as much filth and less political distraction.

The only thing we were able to find to do in the district...
The only thing we were able to find to do in the district was Lake Merritt's gardens and lakeside walk.
Shopping was almost non-existent, with most shopping areas full of shops for lease, etc. It seems that if you want to do anything you go on the BART to San Francisco.
We did find a nice cafe - "Kinfolx" 1951 Telegraph Avenue.
The property, which is very close to the Oakland Airport, is a motel, with the doors for the rooms opening directly to the outside. The room was plain and simple, but had everything needed for a comfortable one-night stay. The room was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable (although an extra blanket would have been welcome as it was quite cold in the room).
Well, what I really didn’t like was the fact there was no parking for guest. The hotel offers valet parking with an expense of $30.00. The room was small when compare to other Hampton Hotels. The employee were not that friendly, and breakfast didn’t meet expectations. I will never stay at the Hampton on Oakland again.
Lots of light, gated parking lot was very nice esp for this area where parking/car safety can be a challenge. Room furnishings and cleanliness were much better than most motels I’ve stayed in; more like a mid-range hotel. Would recommend this to others needing to stay in Oakland/Berkeley!
The location was what we needed near the airport. The security seemed tight, which is important given the rampant crime in Oakland. I was very impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. Outside seemed clean and well kept. Beds were clean and comfy. Bathroom was clean.
Room was comfortable and clean. Staff was helpful and always present. Location was a shock but for this visit was ok. Although we never went in, breakfast looked and smelled great. Would have appreciated coffee in lobby 24/7 like most hotels.
Location is great for a relaxing Oakland visit. We're regular visitors to this part of the city. The room was spacious, clean with a really comfortable bed and the hotel is so close to the ferry which is a real asset.
My flight arrived 2 hours late. I called the hotel as I was walking out of the airport terminal at 1155pm. The desk clerk arranged for a Lyft to pick me up. I was in the hotel lobby checking in 15 minutes later.
It had a really nice and clean facility. I was very satisfied with the cozy atmosphere around the house. It has a good neighborhood. I feeled like the hotel gave us a careful consideration.
The staff was great, and the hotel was super nice and well-located. Close to the business area in Oakland, transportation, and nice places to eat. I highly recommend it.
Close to airport, clean, fresh. Very nice person at front desk when I checked in. Hotel provides Uber service to airport. Very good breakfast with lots of options.
Attended a summit within the hotel so made life easy staying there . Catering was good, vegan catered for
Interesting historical area. Very close to BART
