Location is great!! Beautiful view over the marsh and waterways. More affordable rate than almost all the other locations. Rooms are very clean, nicely decorated and have the basic necessities for a comfortable stay. Joey at the front desk is very nice and pleasant to talk to. Stayed here several times in April to complete a class at Carteret CC.

Quiet. Nearby places to eat. Aquarium not too far away.

Quiet. Nearby places to eat. Aquarium not too far away. Uncrowded beach. We ate lunch at the nearby Big Oak Drive In , 3 times. Good burger. Really good barbecue. Very little traffic on the main road. Was after Labor Day , though.

Salter Path was not a real big commercial area.

Salter Path was not a real big commercial area. More laid back and quiet.Had a great sea food meal at the Crab Shack and ice cream at the ice cream shop that was in front of the restaurant. Both places were within walking to my motel, The Salter Path Inn. The North Carolina aquarium and Fort Macon were close by and many public beach areas close. In order to do anything other than being on the beach you had to go north to Atlantic beach or south to Emerald Isl. Much more commercial stuff in both these areas. If you are looking for nice quiet beach time Salter Path is the place to check out.

Be aware of the dinner hour.

Be aware of the dinner hour. I went during the week and 90% of the restaurants closed at 2100. Also, be prepared to eat around 1700 really because the traffic and parking is crazy, even on the weekday. Some places have LEOs directing parking traffic seven days a week. I ate at On The Rocks and it was great. The prices were a little high but on average and lower than some other restaurants. I also ate at The Swansboro Food & Beverage Co. on our first night because it was one of a very few open late and appropriate for families. It was overpriced and not worth it.

The location was quiet and peaceful.

The location was quiet and peaceful. The private path to the beach and rinse off shower was excellent as there was no crowd or parking to deal with. The in-room kitchen made it easy to make our own meals especially walking down the street to the local fresh seafood market for seafood daily. The ladies in the office were very accommodating any time you needed extra towels, a broom or anything else for your stay. Having a Dollar General across the street to walk to was also a plus. We would definitely stay there again.

It was one of the worst places I have ever stayed.

It was one of the worst places I have ever stayed. The office personnel was rude. It was, extremely, overpriced. Especially, for there being no amenities, except wifi & that wasn't great. No, tissue, extra toilet paper, coffee, hair dryer. No outlets in the bathroom to use hair tools, or anything. No mirrors in the main room & few outlets to try to get ready. Horrible lighting. The TV barely worked. They give false advertising about the distance to the beach. The boardwalk they have to the beach is awful, long & dangerous. I tried to cancel my reservation due to my dad being put on hospice but they wouldn't let me, without taking my $240+. This has nothing to do with my review, however. My mom & I came, after my dad passed to get some peace because we are an ocean loving family. It was not pleasant, or peaceful. I have stayed at less expensive places that were more comfortable & accommodating. As a matter of fact, we moved right up the road, after our one night, & have an oceanfront room, a restaurant, swimming pool, hot tub & much more, on property & paid about $50 less.

Great location, older Inn, but clean and comfortable, nice quiet area. I am a woman traveling alone but, I felt safe, did not feel at all uncomfortable. You are between Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle, so easy access to both.
