If there were 100 stars available for lodging, the Round Barn Lodge would receive it. We visited this beautiful and friendly lodge in Spring Green, Wisconsin, coming from our home in central Missouri on vacation to the House on the Rock.
Our experience at the Round Barn Lodge was not just about accommodation; it was about being embraced with a level of kindness and care that can only be described as gracious hospitality. Kathleen and Abby at the front desk are not just friendly; they are compassionate souls who went above and beyond to assist us when our vehicle had a minor hiccup during our stay.
Our room was both comfortable and spacious, with lovely lighting, plenty of electrical sockets, and a gorgeous fireplace, and it was all immaculate and well-cared for. Everything was in excellent condition; the room even smelled clean and fresh. We had a stunning window view with vertical blinds and a lot of room to move around. Our deluxe King room also held a very nice mini-refrigerator, a microwave, coffee maker and supplies, a lovely and spacious dresser and large mirror above it, and a sizable desk with a matching chair and four electrical outlets above it on the wall to plug in my laptop and chargers.
The large bed had two lovely bedside tables with lamps, which were ample enough to set my CPAP on, which was greatly appreciated. There was so much storage space, including a lovely closet with a folding wooden door, hangers, extra pillows, and a luggage holder. The bathroom was spotless, with ample space and a nice shower. We appreciated all the additional amenities that came with our room and could not have asked for better.
They have an indoor swimming pool that is up to five feet deep and kept immaculately clean. It was a nice way to relax at the end of a long day. There is also a coffee shop/cafe attached to the hotel that is open in the mornings until early afternoon (it currently closes at 2 p.m.). It is exceptionally lovely to visit.

Myself and my 2 granddaughters were in the area for House on the Rock. This hotel was the perfect price and location for us. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tub were great for relaxing after the long drive. Breakfast was great too.

Very nice town but the hi lite is proximity to Taliesin and American Players Theater. Highly recommend both. Make theater reservations well in advance and take a jacket for the cool outdoor evenings.

The only disappointment was the fact that many of the local restaurants weren’t open on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I’m sure the fact that the summer season had ended was part of the reason, we were there October 2nd,3rd and 4th.

This was our second overnight trip to this area.
This was our second overnight trip to this area. We very much enjoy the American Players Theater (APT) - especially the plays in their outdoor amphitheater. We are also big fans of Frank Lloyd Wright and Prairie style architecture. Spring Green is home to FLW-designed Taliesin home and architecture school. This area is also home to the touristy House on the Rock, with its interesting back story about its builder being an FLW school reject. Small town hospitality. Don't expect haute cuisine unless maybe if you stay at the pricey House on the Rock Resort. We didn't, so can't confirm.

Spring Green is a quaint little town.
Spring Green is a quaint little town. The only complaint we had is that there is nowhere to have breakfast in the morning. How come there isn't at least one cafe or family restaurant? We have at least five in our town. We ended up having breakfast at the Subway! You have a very nice bookstore (a little biased toward the Democrats!) and the General Store was neat.

Delightful area to explore.
Delightful area to explore. Not enough restaurants to choose from but easy to get around. The highlights are: The House of the Rock and Taliesin. Well worth visiting and exploring. Thank you Spring Green for a relaxing place to visit.

Cozy little town. Great food at Freddy Valentines...yum!!
Cozy little town. Great food at Freddy Valentines...yum!! Saturday’s farmers market was much smaller than anticipated. Otherwise, it’s your typical “middle of nowhere” country town. Some very unique and amazing architecture thanks to Wrights Taliesin home nearby no doubt.
