A fabulous location in the historic Stowe village, offering a warm athosphere. Breakfast at the 18 Main was delicious and the Whip Bar & Grill presented a delightful place for dining. I would definitely recommend for a relaxing stay in a traditional environment.

Stowe.... a skiers paradise.
Stowe.... a skiers paradise. Cute downtown area, awsome skiing. Nice apres ski options. My wife and I attempt to visit every winter. The town offers a good variety of eateries, resturants stores etc. One tip though... try to book a hotel that offers breakfast. I honestly could not offer a recommendation on a sit down resterant for breakfast. Just my opinion.

Very small town. Grocery store is small and pricey.
Very small town. Grocery store is small and pricey. Shops are very pricey but lots of homemade items and boutique type places. Food is really good at the restaurants. Everyone is really friendly. Will I be back probably not, but not because it was bad just very slow paced not for me. Definitely out of a hallmark movie though!

You have to try jalapeno cheddar pancakes with maple syrup...
You have to try jalapeno cheddar pancakes with maple syrup and hollandaise sauce at the Butler's Pantry. Alchemist brewery is a must stop and Von Trapp Brewery and lodge grounds deserve a visit. Great place in the winter, if you like winter sports. But with all the natural beauty, it is worth a visit any time a year. Fall foliage is awesome to see in this area.

We love Stowe.
We love Stowe. We have been here many times starting over 50 years ago on our honeymoon!! The character of the town is just wonderful. This year they had a Halloween parade with the children of the town all dressed up!! It was charming! We will definitely be back!!

Stowe is adorable.
Stowe is adorable. The reputation it has as a fall foliage destination is well deserved. The little downtown is adorable and very walkable, the traffic wasn't great but we were able to find parking relatively easily. If visiting from out of town, you're going to want a rental car since many of the attractions are spaced miles apart. There are a ton of great food-related things to try near by. We really enjoyed the sugar houses (we saw Bragg Farm and Goodrich's Maple Farm and recommend them both - about 40ish minutes out of town), Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Cabot cheese shop, and Ben and Jerry's factory. We stopped at but didn't stay at the Trapp Family Lodge, which was well worth seeing. We did try the Trapp Kaffeehaus (which also serves their beer) which was great. If you like hard cider we also recommend Stowe Cider.

A quaint town set in the most picturesque location.
A quaint town set in the most picturesque location. The shops were attractive and there were plenty of places to eat. The nearby Von Trapp Family Lodge is well worth a visit. There is lots to do in the summer and the winter but we had not realised that most attractions and roads to mountain peaks would be closed from mid October until the ski season starts so we were caught in the middle of this time and had less open for our visit.
The hotel, while the facilities are old and simple, is well-maintained and managed by the family. Everything is basic, simple, economic but working so that customers' basic needs for accommodations can be met. For example, there is no coffee maker in each room but hot coffee is provided and available in the dining room 24 hours. The breakfast is served with hot meals w/ varieties, which is the best feature of this family hotel!
This hotel is closing for renovations in November some time. I will be interested in coming next year to the new motel / hotel. I liked the fact that the hotel is within easy walking distance of the downtown "village ". It was a very safe and clean place to stay. My room was one of the smaller rooms available but it was fine for me. The woman at the desk, Jamie, was knowledgible and friendly !
Location was excellent! Walk to Stowe centre and bars and restaurants and 12 minute drive to Stowe skiing. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The ambiance was lovely and the lobby bar areas very nice to sit in. We used the outdoor hot tub both nights of our stay and really enjoyed it. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again next year.
Beautiful rustic lodge, very large and well maintained. Excellent food and staff very friendly. Great views and amenities. Loved that there was a shuttle service to get to Bierhall restaurant. Perfect place for a relaxing time away, only a short drive to the town of Stowe and the ski slopes. Will definitely return and recommend to all.
We had stayed several times at this hotel when it was The Mountaineer. We were looking forward to seeing the improvements under new management and were really impressed. The new decor scheme had simple elegance and the entire facility was gleaming well kept. We shall return for sure to this well placed site!
Great central location in town, can literally see Alchemist brewery from the living room window. The stowe bus stops down the street from the property, don’t even have to drive to the resort. Sauna and hot tub are in the building next door working great. Would definitely stay here again!
Stowe is a quaint New England town with lots of shopping and good restaurants. The hotel had the charm of an old fashioned inn but was very well renovated with modern amenities for comfort. The room was large and the fitness center was awesome - with a sauna and jacuzzi.
The Location Spot on for exploring Stowe!
The Staff always welcomed with a big smile and warm welcome!
The facilities: eatery was great with awesome view of the cool bowling alleys!
Swimming pool and jacuzzi just lovely! And washing facilities! It has everything!
A fabulous location in the historic Stowe village, offering a warm athosphere. Breakfast at the 18 Main was delicious and the Whip Bar & Grill presented a delightful place for dining. I would definitely recommend for a relaxing stay in a traditional environment.
Good location to all Stowe village and mountain resort activities. Beautiful grounds and fall views from the property. Room was spacious and had a fully equipped kitchen. Modern bathroom, loved the underfloor heating in bathroom.
Centrally located in Stowe. Easily accessible entrance. Wonderful Staff, very customer centric. Ayden, the hotel manager went out of her way to assist our needs. Room was beautiful and the breakfast outstanding.
The beds were so comfortable and the hot tub and sauna made fast recovery for a full day of skiing I would highly recommend stay here. It was so close to Stowe mountain we had a great trip at the grey fox inn.
The location of this property is right in the middle of all of the things to do in Stowe. Also to unlock your room you just need to put in a passcode at the door. This was very convenient.
Breakfast was a courtesy, simple but had the trivial, the hotel offer coffee and tea during all day. The room has a good size, god bed, mini refrigerator.
