Days Inn by Wyndham Canastota Verona, hotel in Sylvan Beach

Located just off Interstate 90, this Canastota, New York hotel is directly across from the Boxing Hall of Fame. It features free Wi-Fi access in every room and a daily continental breakfast.

Needs to be updated badly, no breakfast at all unless you consider some pre wrapped danishes or donuts from another gas station or wherever. I mean it just needs to get with the times. Until then I'll never stay there again

    Its a very seasonal place....

Its a very seasonal place....Sylvan Beach has a nice small beach and a short walk along the lake. It has a small (very small) 1950's amusement park that is open a few weekdays and weekends in the summer. Its just a quaint nice small place. A calm place. (Except when they have a biker weekend or pirate days). A main restaurant is "Eddies, Home of the Original Hot Ham Sandwich".... you can have a good meal there (check to see when they're open). Everything (almost) in Sylvan Beach is seasonal there). ... Just down the road is the Verona New York State Park. A small but newly renovated park with a tiny beach, but lots of places to sit and stare at the lake. They recently added the Lake House grill and slot casino (small in scale)... we did not get to go there.... it looks like they have a nice large outside deck (with some wind protection) for good weather eating. Sometimes you just want a place with a "long view" of the water for a respite.

Sylvan Beach is a well kept secret!

Sylvan Beach is a well kept secret! If you want a walkable beach town and a family friendly beach experience then this is perfect! The fact that Oneida Lake is so shallow means the kids can safely play in the water while the parents enjoy the soft sandy beach. The amusement park is very dated and a little sad, but quaint. The restaurants are very good - we especially loved "The Crazy Clam" - so good! Walking along the sea wall and the park is peaceful and beautiful. Sylvan Beach has something going on in the town every weekend so there is always something different to do. And since it's so 'unknown', the crowds aren't too stifling. Saturdays on a clear summer day get hopping, but in a fun way. We can't wait to go back!!
