Good location that was close to Shenandoah and Luray Caverns. Decent breakfast choices. Free beverages in fridge were a nice bonus. The Cavern room is a little small, but adequate. Check in was very smooth and easy.

This is a hidden gem. The owners have done a great job of maintaining this historic property while offering a wonderful experience. The staff is very warm, attentive and hospitable. Daniel was particularly attentive throughout our stay and does a great job as General Manager. Breakfast was delicious. The well kept trails around the property add to the experience.

Exactly as in the pictures, very clean and fully equipped! Thank you Alexa, we felt really at home, we couldn’t wish for anything else. I wish we had more time to stay another night.

Enjoyed the grounds and the Rose River just behind the house. Liked the lodge restaurant, very homey, and the only breakfast buffet I've ever been to that I thought the scrambled eggs were actually very good.

Syria is definitely a nice place to stay if you plan to see the Shenandoah national Park however, I will say that it is about a 45 minute drive to get to any of the main roads to go to skyline. You have to take skyline to drive the mountain. This is not some thing we knew going into the trip.

Had chairs to sit in and they had music in front of main lobby and a fire in the fire pit. Went horseback riding. It was a wonderful getaway. Wish we had stayed longer, will definitely be back!!

Syria is a very small town with lots of wide-open spaces and beautiful views. Enjoy the winding roads ~ great for motorcyclists. Be sure and check-out the old-time Syria Mercantile ~ it has a post office with a friendly clerk ~ but very limited hours. Across the street we were lucky to find The Apple Store was open for business with many varieties of fresh-picked Graves Mountain Lodge & Farm apples. A stop at local DuCard Winery for a tasting is a must. Wish we’d had time for horseback riding or a trip to Skyline Dr. We just missed the grand opening of a lovely nearby gallery - Possum’s Store: a fresh renovation of a former general store, beautifully appointed with works by various local artisans. But the owner generously let us take a peek (& make a purchase!) the day before as a woodworker was delivering his gorgeous creations. Take the time to visit Yoder’s Market in Madison ~ kids will love the petting zoo, and all will enjoy the amazing variety of goodies at this Mennonite staple.

We wanted a nature lovers trip back to the basics- that’s what we found! If you want a town with amenities like restaurants close by or stores you will not want to stay here- the closest stores food options outside of our lodge was 15 minutes. We were fine with that- we got what we came for- unplugging and nature!
