Clean, comfortable room. Older vintage RT66 hotel but beautifully maintained. Excellent value!

I usually stay in Tucumcari on my way from Az. to the mid west to visit my children. This was my first time at the Roadway Inn. I will stay here from now on instead of the other Motels in town that are double the price, and the bonus, it is on Route 66 ++++

Tucumcari is a city rebounding from the loss of rail service in the 1980’s or 90’s. The train depot has been converted to a museum. The charm of vintage vehicles and Historic U.S. Route 66 is evident everywhere. Recommended restaurants: Del’s and Kix 66.

We always like going through Tucumcari when we travel out west. Sometimes we stop and shop. The motet accommodations were very nice. Breakfast was great.
The only thing I have a complaint about is the pet fee. Fees should be according to size of pet.

The property it self was nice enough, but my daughters apple air pods were left and the hotel have failed to return them to us even though we sent a postage paid addressed envelop for their return over 2 months ago and when we initially phoned they confirmed house keeping had handed them into the office. They now will not respond to my emails or Booking.coms attempts to contact them regarding this, so all in all dishonest. I can't find a phone number to call them from oversea's on, the number on the booking only works in USA. Disappointing they have not been returned,
Absolutely loved how the rooms were detailed to an different era, even had music playing on an old time radio waiting for us when I walked into the room! They definitely need more hotels set up this way! The breakfast bar was amazing as well loved that they had an tea option instead of just coffee. If I ever pass through Tucumcari again I will most definitely make it a point to stay here!!!!!
When the mercury at my planned campsite at Palo Dura State Park near Amarillo exceeded 105F, I fled to Tucumcari and searched for a hotel. The room was affordable, welcomed my dog, and afforded me a good shower and a quiet night of sleep. No frills, and that was just fine with me. The manager on duty appeared to be the owner, and he was quite pleasant.
1. Owners - Extremely friendly and helpful for the check in and brief introduction of the property
2. Hotel "Look" - Very well preserved retro decor, murals, cars....etc
3. Room - Clean, comfortable and with lots of original furniture/fixtures in good condition
4. Blue swallow - Beautiful in the day and awesome in the night with the neon light
Everything! Great position, so quite at night! Room clean and the most comfy bed we ever had on our Route66 travel. Rama and Ray, the owners, are so friendly like we knew them since many years. They give also many tips on what to see and what to do in town. This is a must go while visiting (or just stopping by) Tucumcari.
The room was clean and comfortable. We needed a ground floor room because of our age. The clerk was accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was adequate and met our needs. It was pet friendly, a necessity for us. And best of all, it was quiet at night so we could sleep.
The room was really, really nice for the type of hotel we booked. The exterior made you think you were getting an inexpensive best western-type deal, but the room was more like what you find in a Marriott. Right off the highway too. 100% would recommend.
If you are travelling Route 66, stay in Tucumcari and book this place. Out of the 15 places we stayed at while travelling the ‘mother road’ this was the best. A gem of a motel and the attention to detail with the 1960s vibe was brilliant.
The breakfast was amazing! I loved the packets of lemon juice and honey for the tea (I don't see that in other hotels). Also, the picante sauce was the best I ever had! They have a great selection of breakfast enhancements!
The breakfast of the hotel was very good and the location was a nice and quiet area. I enjoyed the stay, felt like home and the staff was very sweet. Room was clean, everything worked, nothing was broken.
The location was good and the room was much nicer than we expected for the price point. Breakfast was as expected. The hotel is in the process of being updates and the results are good
Hotel is comfortable and clean, rooms are spacious. There is old style and charm which me and my partner liked. Compared to modern hotel chains, this is refreshing experience.
The person at the front desk who checked us in was pleasant and amicable. The hotel is ideally located in Tucumcari on one of the two main roads in Tucumcari.
