El Capitan is an overall excellent facility. Very nice grounds and cool old-West feel. The staff we met were all super.
Our room was clean, the bathroom was good, and the white tiles a nice touch. Great shower.
The bed was fantastic.

This is a larger hotel in Van Horn, Texas. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The building is older and could use updating, but for a 1 or 2 day stay it will work just fine.

I interacted with one member of the staff (owner?) and he was very nice.
Located in the picturesque area once known as the Old Spanish Trail through Texas, the Quality Inn in Van Horn offers easy access to the 18th-century frontier town at the Clark Hotel Museum.
Our rooms had paint cans and unmade beds and insecure doors.
Our rooms had paint cans and unmade beds and insecure doors. Staff did not give the option to place us in different rooms so we had to find other hotel at 11 pm it was a horrible experience and would never recommend this hotel

Van Horn is a city where there are a lot of commuters coming in and leaving (especially workers in the trucking industry, but there were also a many families there as well (Spring Break time). Van Horn is a city where you stop to rest, not really to sight-see although areas like Marfa, Big Bend, McDonald Observatory, Davis/Guadalupe Mountain are nearby. Sunrises are beautiful.

Stayed here six years ago and is just as good then and now. Only change is the refrigerator was larger than last time. All was good in the room. Great to see that good places are still in business. Good staff on duty at midnight when we arrived at the motel.

Super 8 stay was very nice and restful; however, Sands Motel experience horrible due to no actual mattress and having to sleep on box springs! We drove around a bit just to look and all lodgings are easy to get to from Interstate 10. We did enjoy our meal at Lindsey's Cafe. I'm very particular about Spanish rice and I'd eat theirs any day and the staff was very nice.

Small town struggling probably due to the pandemic issues.
Small town struggling probably due to the pandemic issues. Many closed businesses. We did not stay for any visiting purposes, just an overnight for travel twice in one week (each way). We did have a great local Hispanic/Southwest style breakfast at Mom's Cafe, a tiny local gem. Another breakfast at Gilbert's restaurant because Mom's was closed on Monday was not bad, but not as good as Mom's.

Hotel advertised as being pet friendly. Near freeway.
Hotel advertised as being pet friendly. Near freeway. I drove a BMW X5. Used GPS. Address given was incorrect. Call Hotel for directions. When I arrived, I was asked if I had a dog, and there is a fee. I explained Knights Inn Van Horn advertised being pet friendly. "It Is but there is a $25. Fee." I should've been told that at time of booking. Besides we carry a portable crate for our dog. We should receive a refund of $25.
The staff was great and the breakfast was real good, no problems there. The room was okay, comfortable. The bathroom however, was old, outdated, there was no place to put our toiletries, the towels were to small, thin and old. There was some kind of handicap chair in the bathroom which looked broken??? The tub was gross, looked dirty. We will not stay there again. The price was lower than other hotels in the area, but not worth it.
We want to express our gratitude to the cleaning staff and to the management at the Van Horn, Texas Days Inn. First, the cleaning person was honest and highly responsible. She turned in my wife's tablet, which we had left behind, to the Office. Then, Management worked with us to arrange for the tablet to be mailed to us. This high level of honesty and professionalism is most commendable.
The lady who checked us in and showed us our room was so kind and friendly!
This is a great, old time motel in a small town that is very reasonable, safe and you get a good nights sleep without spending a lot on a hotel room, like at most other hotels
Van Horn is a small town. The hotel doesn't look like much but the beds comfortable, everything works, parking lot is fine. As a one night stopover, it was just what I needed. Simple hotel, good value.
The restaurant was cancelled, the staff responded quickly, politely and were fantastic, unlike Booking.com that was totally unresponsive, hotel cancelled with no charge
