Pretoriuskop is really beautiful, but the bush is incredibly dense and that makes game viewing a challenge. I definitely recommend seeing this part of Kruger Park, but visitors should have realistic expectations and personally, I wouldn't stay more than 2 - 3 days in future.

Although this camp is out of the way, to me it is the best camp. Not only does it have a swimming pool but the restaurant is a Wimpy. Had very bad experiences with the Mugg and Bean in Lower Sabie, will NEVER eat there again. Staff are friendly and very helpful in Pretoriuskop.

Das wurde doch gerade schon gefragt, also nochmal diesmal...

Das wurde doch gerade schon gefragt, also nochmal diesmal nicht eingedeutscht: Sitting together at the camp fire with other guests and the game rangers after dinner was wonderful. We told stories from our lives and shared experiances. And on top we read stories from "101 Kruger tales: Extraordinaty stories from ordinary vistors ...", that was so amazing at the camp fire. And special thanks to our game ranger (the one with surname starting with B... ; I'm not good in remenbering names) who took us to 3 game drives. He was very very informative, has a lot of information to every question and knows the creatures in the park and their behaviour. So he managed to serve us all the big five during our game drives.I know it was not only B's experiance, it also needs a portion of luck, but we had it. Even if we were not on a game drive, the rangers were at the camp site and had time for questions and conversation. We had realy a great time at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp. The only thing I would like to miss is the smell after the camp was surrounded by a controlled fire. I know these fires are necessary to prevent wild fires burning down large parts of the park and possibly the camp. But if possible annouce it in advance. So guests could store their stuff in the car to prevent being smoked like a hering. I would go to Pretoriuskop Rest camp with Tented Adventures again, even they could not prevent being smoked again. Good luck to the whole team. And if possible insert Bs surname ;-)

This was our first trip to South Africa, and I was basically winging it with a bookingdot.com and trip advisor for information on where to start my first safari experience. I wanted the camping feel inside the park and Pretoriuskop didn't disappoint, the pictures of the camp on their site are accurate, especially the accommodations, the lantern lite dinners and campfires, and of course the safari rides. If you get Barry, you are in wonderful hands!! I have read about him before on booking dot com. and they were right!!! Jason also is wonderful too! Both very kind and extremely funny to have with you! My son loved the monkey wars with Barry and Jason! The only thing I wish that was provided for international travelers is an ATM machine. I didn't have my own car so I couldn't access the rand cash, which would have been extremely helpful in tipping these wonderful folks who made my first S.African trip outstanding!
