The hosts and staff are very polite and hospitable. The house is new (I suppose), so all the furniture and equipment (air conditioner, refrigerator) are new and clean. There is also a very good kitchen with new utensils and everything you need. You can reach the center of Veligam in about 15 minutes on foot. If I ever stay in Veligam again, I will definitely prioritize staying here

My recent stay at Charming Dark Lodge in River was nothing short of exceptional, marking it as the best homestay experience I have ever encountered. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that exceeded all expectations. The highlight of our stay was undeniably our incredible host, who spared no effort in ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. From delicious lunches and dinners to delightful surprises and the most mouth-watering fish barbecue - probably the best meal I have had in the two months I have been in Sri Lanka. Beyond the culinary delights, our room was a sanctuary of comfort and style. Immaculately clean, equipped with a kitchen containing everything one could possibly need, and beautifully built and decorated. Originally intending to stay for four nights, we found ourselves captivated by the charm of Charming Dark Lodge, extending our stay to twelve nights. Departing was bittersweet, as we had grown attached to the unparalleled hospitality and the tranquil ambiance of our temporary home. A particularly memorable moment was celebrating my birthday during our stay. Our host went above and beyond to ensure it was an unforgettable occasion, adding a personal touch that truly made me feel special. Without a doubt, if I ever find myself in Sri Lanka again, Charming Dark Lodge will be my first choice for accommodation. Its unmatched hospitality, and inviting ambiance have left an indelible mark on my travel memories. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a truly exceptional homestay experience in Sri Lanka.

This is such a beautiful homestay! The best part is definitely the sweet, kind, family who runs it. It’s really close to the beach & everything else is within walking distance. It’s in a quiet & peaceful area, so you won’t have any trouble sleeping if you’re a light sleeper. You have a beautiful garden to enjoy your breakfast in, there’s a laundry machine which you can use for a small amount & a fully equipped kitchen. If we hadn’t booked our next location before coming here we definitely would have extended our stay. Highly recommend it!

We were very well received at Mangrove bay Inn. We were coming for 3 nights but ended up prolonging our stay. It is very well situated. And full of nature around. Monkeys were passing by daily. The family who owns the property was very friendly and gave us good tips and lots of local delicacy that our little girls especially liked.

Absolutely amazing stay on a beautiful lake area. The hosts were incredibly nice, provided us coconuts on arrival, fruits during our stay and made sure we can reach them anytime and answered all our questions. We could use the washing machines, the rooms were very big (3BR and 3 Bathrooms). We used the kitchen, the bbq to grill fish and cuddled a lot with the puppy Lanka who the previous owners left (dogs will hang around there but obviously you don't let them in). The hammock was a very nice bonus too. All in all we would all totally agree that we got an amazing value for what we paid and had the best days over there. I would recommend to get motorbikes to get around because PickMe will not always come there or its a high price.

The property is in a very quiet and peaceful area, only a few minutes scooter drive from Weligama city. The balcony is super nice - surrounded by palmtrees. The room is very convenient - very good value for little money. Pretty, the owner, and her husband became our friends during the stay and we are still in touch. Pretty cooks lovely food and will do everything to make you feel at home. 100% recommendation :)
