The breakfast was delivered to our casa. Wonderful! Fresh scrambled eggs, cheeses and meats, yogurt, fruit, local breads, fresh squeezed OJ - Nespresso in the kitchen. Beautiful and quaint, if not gorgeous, little casitas that were spacious, decorated tastefully, and so comfortable. Pastoral, rural location just outside Santarem. Only 50 minute drive from the airport in Lisbon, so perfect for travelers to the north of Portugal. we wanted to stop in Santarem to see the eucharistic miracle and then go to Fatima, which is only 35 minutes north. Only regret is that we didn't stay longer to really enjoy this first class facility.

Our stay at Chalet Santa Iria was absolutely perfect. We travelled as 2 couples for a wedding, and arrived by train (it is a short walk from the station). I cannot say enough good things about this accommodation - the host was wonderful and welcoming, and helped us organise a taxi when we needed one in a rush. Everything was provided for and there was nothing missing. The interior of the house is picture perfect with a mix of old and new furniture and furnishings, and where furniture or equipment is new it is of the highest standard (beds, couches, iron, coffee machine). The outdoor terrace is glorious, with good quality seating and a hammock, decorated with lights and views over the valley below. Marisa explained all the walking routes into Santarem old town, including the Caminho route which passes by the house. A wonderful surprise for us was that one of the bedrooms has recently had air con installed, and there are a number of fans to use in the other rooms (it was 36 degrees when we visited!). I can’t recommend this house more, and thank Marisa for a wonderful stay.

Wonderful place, a great combination of old-world hospitality and modern conveniences. I loved the pool and the chickens (not to worry, there are no chickens in the pool). I was there on my own, but it would be great for couples or families. Excellent home base for discovering that Portugal has more to offer than Lisbon or Porto.
