Everything you could possibly want for breakfast was provided - eggs, bacon, baked beans to name only a few. Our stay was the equivalent of a home away from home. Attention to detail was apparent in spades. We would highly recommend Plovers Rest to anyone wanting to step away from their real world for a short time. It was just the tonic we needed.

So peaceful. Very comfy, cozy and quiet which covers all bases for us (older folk who just like peace and quiet!) The countryside also was beautiful and green - a lovely change from closer to Adelaide where we are desperate for rain!
A good day visit would be enough to see the area.
The information centre was terrific and professional in promoting the area but the shire needs to lift there game to update signage ( especially the blackfellows cave). Penguins should of been protected better from vermin before they were wiped out. A cleaner pier that's not covered in bird poop would of been nice also

A hidden gem of town - picturesque, historic, interesting and extremely friendly and welcoming locals who are proud of their town. The Periwinkle Cafe and the Victoria Hotel serve delicious meals and drinks with extensive options for all ages and dietary requirements. There is quite a lot to see and do in this small town - wished we had stayed longer!

Port McDonnell and surrounding towns/villages is a unique place. The coastline fronting onto the great Southern Ocean is spectacular. Even on a slightly breeze day it takes little imagination to understand the difficulty and danger for the sailing ships of the 16th,17th and 18th century struggling against the might of the ocean swells and winds as they plied the treacherous shipwreck coast.
The country side is rich in agricultural resources of many kinds.
The proximity to the city of Mt Gambier adds to the value of a visit to the region.
It is an easy and interesting drive from Adelaide along the limestone coastal Road this drive offers many chances to se the spectacular Coorong
