We liked the old town but the rest of it was very down at heel and disappointing. It may be the that building work on the other side will improve the area but as we were staying in the middle of the works it was very unattractive

With only 24 hours, we only saw the old town, which is unspoilt (the most important feature for us of any destination). There were excellent traditional family run restaurants offering good traditional French food at reasonable prices. The ramparts offer a relaxing an interesting walk and the castle and cathedral a bit of culture.

Great place if you are interested in fishing, sea, seafood.
Great place if you are interested in fishing, sea, seafood. The historical city is worth a short visit. A lot of choice in restaurants and fish shops. Nice beach and waterfront sites. A part of the marina neigbourhoud is under reconstruction, the result will be very nice.

Boulogne-sur-Mer is a small but pleasant town to visit if you want to escape from the busy city life. We visited Nausicaa, the largest aquarium in Europe! It was worth the drive from Holland! That was the main reason for out trip.

This fabulous house has been beautifully restored by the current owners who are charming and made us feel very welcome. Our room was spacious and exceptionally clean; the breakfast was plentiful and of a high standard with delicious homemade jams. The old town of Boulogne-sur-Mer is right across the road and a short walk takes you to the port where we had an excellent evening meal in a great restaurant. We only stayed one night on our way back to Calais but would love to return for a longer stay and to explore the area more.
The location was excellent, just outside the old town we could walk everywhere. Amazed that there was free parking directly opposite the hotel. Great Moroccan restaurant within walking distance just on the other side of the old town. Room size was very small however did what it said on the tin and had all we needed. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, good choice of various foods - cereals, yoghurt, breads, cheese, ham, eggs, pastries, hot and cold drinks.
Stunning location in the old town of Boulogne next to the castle & easy walk to restaurants . Beautiful old building well restored, big room , big bathroom , fantastic French breakfast . The owners were super friendly & helpful. we were lucky and able to park right by the hotel ( they have reserved parking elsewhere as well ) . The owner recommended a lovely restaurant for my birthday dinner and made the booking for us as well. 10 minute walk into main town centre
This has simply been... amazing! The location couldn't be better: into the gorgeous historical heart of Boulogne-Sur-Mer.
The breakfast was splendid, just perfect - delicious hand-made marmalades, authentic and local French croissants, and so much more. The house oozes history, and the host is passionate about telling you more about its history. My historical heart rarely beat this fast before.
We will definitely be back!
Very spacious apartment in the center of Boulogne-sur-mer, recently modernized. Everything is at hand with 2 bedrooms, including adjacent bathrooms. Easy to reach with lockbox etc. Received good restaurant recommendations from owner. Owner tried to accommodate solution for lack of cleanliness (see below) but given we stayed over in a weekend, it was not able to solve our problem. Very good communication & support.
Lovely little apartment in an ideal location only a few minutes walk from both the old town and Place Dalton for the Saturday morning market. Shops are restaurants within a couple of minutes walk.
The apartment is quite small but clean and comfortable, ideal for a couple of nights stay. Includes a small kitchen area. Hot water was plentiful. The lady who met us with the keys was friendly and helpful.
We are regular users of Ibis hotels and have never had less than acceptable service. This was not one of the best, maybe because it was busy, so check-in was rushed. However, the room was fine, with good air conditioning and wi-fi. We had a view over the city, which was a bonus. The restaurant was unpretentious but our meal was good, as was the breakfast. Car parking was secure, but not cheap.
Lovely old building; old town location, free car park area very close to hotel, clean, comfortable bed, close to restaurants, free WiFi, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast good (though at first I thought it was just coissant and bread/butter ....the cheese, meat, yoghurt, stewed fruit, jams table was behind an opened door - and I didn't realise it was there until another guest used it).
The best place we have visited in our trip in France. Corine was super, she helped us a lot with our doubts about where to go in Boulogne. The breakfast was superb.
Location was perfect, just next to the Beffroi.
Delightful quirky property which has French charm with exceptional comfort! Excellent breakfast and wonderful hosts who gave us a warm welcome and lots of useful information about our visit to Boulogne-sur Mer!
Location to local bars and restaurants was fantastic.
Hotel was very clean and had a refurb since our last visit.
Only issue was water flooded under shower door. Nothing we could do. Made mat etc very wet.
plus point of down-town charm: very wonderfully and skill fully restored appartments in the old town.
It was an overnight stay, yet clearly you can stay longer in Boulogne, certainly in this location.
Excellent location in Boulogne old town. Apartment is large and well furnished with a small kitchen and bathroom. A strong recommendation for those staying in Boulogne.
