Quiet little town with a port.
Quiet little town with a port. Easy to find nice places to eat.
Not too touristic during winter. Nice spa thalasso around. Not for anyone who seeks out party places.
There is also a reasonably priced Moroccan eatery Le Sable d’Or that serves authentic cous cous and home made baklava!
There is also a great seafood restaurant, Le Restaurant La Regate, at Hotel Les Sable Blancs.

We went in winter and the weather was awful but still alot to see, and if you love wild weather and walks along the coast its amazing. The town itself is lovely, some good restuarants and great small shops.

Once a very rich city (merci la Sardine!), Douarnenez is struggling to stay on the map of tourists' destinations. The ports are great places to visit, and the welcoming attitude of the people is a great asset. I am an old man who knew the region more than 60 years ago, we are not a young couple and the month of November is not the best period to visit: nevertheless I found the atmosphere even better than in my young age.

Lovely town with busy ports (plural) and well located for exploring in all directions: west towards Pointe du Raz and (even better) Pointe du Van, north to the Crozon peninsular and south to Pays Bigouden.
Lots of good creperies, and fine restaurants around the port in Treboul.

There are quiet little beaches just out of town as well as the coastal path which offers a range of views across the bay. The boat museum was well worth a visit also a walk up into the town centre to the market and local shops. Staff in all the restaurants were friendly and helpful, even letting us try out our school French!
We spent an amazing weekend in Douarnenez. The hotel was quiet and clean. There are a lot of facilities (sauna, hammam). We had a room with a sea view and with a jacuzzi outside (you can go in it even when it rains because it is sheltered). There is a nice bar just in front of the hotel where you can have a drink. The entire personnel was great, always with smiles on their faces which is really enjoyable!
Olivier is an exceptional host and his appartment is a real gem by the sea. The bed and shower were excellent and the kitchen was very well eqquiped - including several sorts of tea which we thoroughly degustated. The view over the Douarnenez bay beautifuly crowned our experience. We highly recommend this appartment and will be coming back in the future for sure.
Everything about Ty Mad is spectacular. Staff bends over backwards to accommodate, super-friendly and helpful. Decor throughout the hotel is tastefully artistic, restaurant is five-star. Cuisine inventive, flavorful, makes the most of every single ingredient and delivers delightful and impressive tastes we've never experienced. We'd be so glad to come back!!
A bright airy apartment with a great view over the harbour a few steps from cafes and restaurants and a few hundred metres from the old town, shops and supermarket. Very well equipped with particularly comfortable bed, great kitchen facilities, and balcony. The owner/host was particularly helpful and welcoming including giving us a delicious Breton cake.
Very nice view of the port from breakfast room (and from my bedroom, chosen with view).
Simple but clean and comfortable (I slept very well!)
10-min walk to the Rhu port wharf, where there are some restaurants (I had there a nice fish & chips on the wharf with Muscadet wine and tasty local ale beer - at Pesket booth).
The hotel appears to have been totally renovated a while ago and was great.
We did not book a sea view room but had a view over the town which was nice as we were on the 4th floor I think.
Shame we could not book to get in the restaurant due to staff shortage I believe.
Location is excellent.rooms are bright, clean, basic and small.beach is very close. There are a few cafes and a bar just down from the hotel. Staff are friendly. There is also a lovely coastal path off the beach.. parking is 2 minutes away in public free area.
It's a nice flat in a house near the harbour and with a parking place The owner was very lovely, he gave us many advice about the town, restaurants, sightseeings and he could speak english very well! There is an washmachine too, it was great.
The statt is very friendly and supportive. The Restaurant is a beautiful stone-building as you can see on the pictures. The rooms are in a separate building, quite old but very clean.
Beautiful setting, restaurant overlooking green gardens.
Food was superb, dinner not cheap but worth it, so
good value, breakfast was fresh and delicious.
