Line is certainly a 'one woman band', she meets and greets, prepares the Continental breakfast every morning, cleans and tidy's the rooms.
Our two rooms were clean and very well presented, the breakfast as it says on the tin, "A continental breakfast", which was adequate.
Located in Surtainville which has a Boulangerie, hairdressers and a corner shop, more Ackwright, than Tesco's Express. So no restaurant or bar, you have to go to Barneville/Cateret for one. However the jewel in the crown for this quaint and sleepy village, is, La Plage, the Beach.
We parked our car by the dunes, walked through the car width gap in the dunes, and felt like the Bounty Hunters, as this beautiful unspoilt long sandy beach presented itself.
A stunning beach, which on a sunny day would be an ideal family destination. No cafes or bars, just spotless golden sand. Perfect.
Gîtes Rose des Sables, a property with barbecue facilities, is located in Surtainville, 47 km from Tatihou Fort, 15 km from Côte des Isles Golf Course, as well as 29 km from Cherbourg Golf Course.
Located 800 metres from a white sandy beach, La Medina features a bar and tennis court.

Location very good. Shop and boulangerie on doorstep. 15 minute walk to the beautiful sandy beach.
Also on way L’amerre bar and grill. Very friendly staff and great food.
24 hour pizza shed near the beach if you want a takeaway.

Renovated in 2020, this hotel is in the centre of Les Pieux and 4 km from the beach. It offers en suite accommodation, free Wi-Fi access and a terrace with outdoor furniture. A bar is also available.
Hôtel Les Ormes, The Originals Relais is situated in Carteret opposite the marina. Set in a charming 19th century residence, it has a flower-filled garden, a terrace and beautiful views of the sea.

Sweet hotel right on the waterfront. Easy flat 5 min walk to the lovely shops on the Main Street. Highly recommend

A wonderful opportunity to stay in a chateau. We opted for a family room which was absolutely huge and well appointed with two large double bedrooms, a living room with a fridge and tv and views out to the sea.
The breakfast was lovely and home made jams, delicious.
We particularly liked the roaming chickens and a chance to roam the grounds ourselves.
It would be lovely to return in the summer time and enjoy more along the beautiful coastline and surrounding villages.

The hosts were so helpful and charming and the room and breakfast excellent. One problem was finding somewhere local for an evening meal and we had to drive some distance, However, once found the restaurant suggested was first rate ( Algerian with Tangine and duck cooked over an open fire ). Easy drive to Cherbourg and Carteret and a local sandy beach if good weather.

Just 45 minutes form Cherbourg - Surtainville a small mixed simple hamlet with a few amenities close to a beautiful sandy beach that stretches for miles! If you want arcades and loads of fast food outlets it is not for you. Reminds me of Cornwall 30 years ago. If you haven’t explored this coastline you are in for a treat.
