Beautiful, peaceful town.
Beautiful, peaceful town. People were very kind and always willing to help, ie - with directions, etc.
Just to add on about The Rutland Hotel - the young man at Reception, Kyle I think his name was, ever so helpful and kind. Nothing was a problem for him to assist with. Cannot remember the names of the other staff members. At breakfast, the staff in there were always willing to help. The night reception staff one night, did get us a drink from the bar when we got back in the evening and found the bar shut. He helped us and put it on our hotel bill. That was really so appreciated by myself and my friend Busi. We probably would stay at this hotel again, unless it’s just about trying the other ones. Overall, it is not a bad hotel at all😊

Douglas and The Isle of Man are well worth a visit.
Douglas and The Isle of Man are well worth a visit. There is so much to see and the transport options to get round the island are varied and interesting. The vintage trains are all with a visit - check timetables as some are limited and finish around 4-5pm. Plan a visit to the Tynwald - the oldest continuous parliament in the world - visits are only on Fridays and Mondays - although there is a public gallery for sittings which happen on some Tuesdays. The Manx Musuem is also worth a visit too.

Douglas is lovely, it is clean and we loved wander8ng around the streets.
Good signage to find your way around but also nice.to get lost for a while.
We walked around Douglas and used the buses, steam.and electric trains to get around the island.
We had fish and chips while walking along the sea front and ate small plates at Frank Matchams.
Loed it
The owners and the staff were exemplary and nothing was too much trouble for any of them in any and every aspect! The hotel was spotless and pristine. The food, both breakfast and dinner, were fantastic!
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough it is outstanding and the staff, kitchen, waiting, serving and housekeeping all contributed above and beyond expectations - this hotel should be a blueprint of what the smaller hotels could aspire to! Thank you Mary for making our time in the Isle of Man so wonderful and very very memorable!
Nice little hotel just off the promenade, very convenient for public transport and a short walk into Douglas town or an even shorter bus ride, the bus stop is at the bottom of the road. Also a short walk to the Electric Tram station. Our family room was very comfortable and breakfast was good too. We were able to leave our luggage on check out until later in the day.
We arrived by ferry and caught a bus to the property, basically any bus going along the promenade will take you there, get off at the Empress Hotel.
The hotel was very comfortable and we were pleased to have a family room that had two bedrooms, a lovely bathroom, and a kitchen set which included a fridge and microwave. This room is only suitable if you are able to negotiate the flights of stairs to the third floor. We felt it was very worthwhile and were comfortable and had a great view. Highly recommend. We didn't realise that there was a games room in the hotel which the kids loved!
Located on the north end of Douglas Promenade. A fair distance from the city centre and shops, however there is a bus stop close by with a regular service. Five minute walk to the Electric Railway Terminus.
The hotel was very clean and looked well maintained. My room no 12 was decorated to contemporary style and was spotless. There was a lift to all floors.
The dining room doubles as a Chinese Restaurant in the evening.
The Ellan Vannin Hotel in Douglas is a lovely hotel, very clean and presentable with friendly staff who were very helpful.
With a close proximity to the sea terminal and town centre, this hotel is ideal for any traveller who has embarked from the ferry.
The room was very clean, presentable and the bed was very comfortable! I stayed in room 15 (which is on the 3rd floor).
Location is good if you have a car - maybe 10 minutes drive into Douglas with plenty of parking, which the Douglas hotels lack. I think there’s a bus service too.
Nice spacious room and excellent bathroom with separate walk in shower. Corridors and staircases are a bit basic in decor and carpets but rooms and public areas are fine.
Staff were very friendly.
Our apartment was clean, comfortable and convenient for us and our adult son who has a learning disability. The food at breakfast and dinner was very good. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely book at this hotel again if we visit the Isle of Man in future
Breakfast was excellent, staff were very friendly & helpful eg getting times for steam train etc. also, the receptionists were exceptionally helpful, printing off our boarding passes & booking our taxi to the airport. The hotel is well positioned for getting around Douglas on foot.
Would definitely recommend the Isle of Man, this was our first visit and we really enjoyed it.The hotel location is excellent, very good for access to the many attractions in the area. The breakfast was very good, as was the attached pan asian restaurant.
A very clean, fresh comfortable hotel with a tasty breakfast. Room 12 was lovely and we had a separate sitting area to relax in. We enjoyed our stay and was spoiled by Yolandi our Host. I would recommend this Hotel and would stay again.
Location is good. Most of the seafront in Douglas is under constuction. Bed was excellent, the curtains did not block out much light. No aircon which was expected but the room cooled off nicely. Ken and the other staff were great.
The overall experience was excellent.
We stayed in the Superior Deluxe King room which was the best hotel room I've stayed in.
It was very spacious and extremely comfortable and the entire hotel was clean with great friendly staff.
Breakfast food is great. Good service from the hotel, and a fast check-in check-out experience. The room view is good and you can see the ocean. For people who are looking for economic options for staying, I definitely recommend it.
The hotel is well maintained. Breakfast was good, though the choices did not vary much. The dinner on Friday night was good. Very attentive staff and the entertainment by the piano player during dinner was very much appreciated.
Breakfast was excellent, good choice, cooked to order and staff always pleasant, B&B within walking distance of centre of Douglas and choice of restaurants, hotels for places to eat and drink
It was centrally located in the heart of Douglas, right on the waterfront. Everything was close by. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Everything about the hotel was great.
The room was well furnished and comfortable and as clean as can be. Not to mention the wonderful view of Douglas Bay and the promenade and the bus stop is right in front of the hotel.
