The Whitehouse Ross-On-Wye, hotel in Ross on Wye

Set in Ross on Wye in the Herefordshire region, with Wilton Castle nearby, The Whitehouse Ross-On-Wye offers accommodations with free WiFi.

The house itself is beautiful and the river Wye is directly opposite and could be seen from my window. There was a kettle and a couple of coffee sachets in the room, which kept me going until I was able to find a café for breakfast in the morning (not breakfast available at the guest house). I didn't really see the hosts apart from upon arrival, which is fine by me! My check in time was 4pm, but was told it was fine to arrive earlier, which was helpful, as it gave me my base for the day

Ross is an interesting town full of history.

Ross is an interesting town full of history. It is also central to the area for trips out. There are activities in the area, especially if you like the outdoors, all within a half hours drive. It is close to Hereford, Ledbury, Symonds Yat and the Wye Valley in general, The Forest of Dean, Monmouth, Gloucester and any other place you might wish to visit for the day. Chepstow is a little further but worth the visit. The roads are generally good A roads and the M50 gets you quickly to the M5.

Historic border town with easy access to surrounding scenic areas and towns. A good selection of independent shops and restaurants. Good views over the Wye valley and a small friendly theatre. Relatively unspoilt.

    Rather disappointed.

Rather disappointed. Town looked tired and had seen better days. Difficult to walk along the river for all the bushes. Having said that, it did rain every day and nowhere looks good unless the sun shines

The building is lovely, lots of steps but plenty of handrails. There is a terrace so you can sit outside. The staff are super friendly and available for anything you need. You are given a code so you can come and go when you want and the parking is close by. There was a heater in the room so you have heat when the heating is off. There was a fireplace in the room although it was blocked off and not usable. Plenty of character and furniture. There was also a good sized washbasin in the room.

Dinner, lovely present food. Steak was the best I have ever tasted. Good spacing of tables. Lovely decorated restaurant. Sat in the conservatory for breakfast. Bedroom was light, 2 windows, situated at the front of the Inn, with views of the countryside, rolling fields and view of castle. Enjoyed a drink or two outside the front under a brolly as it was a hot weekend. Plenty of parking.

The innkeeper Andy and his wife Sophie were very kind and accommodating- they allowed my mum and her dog to join me on short notice for the second night of my stay, and were present on both arrival and departure to help with the tight parking situation - in the rain no less! Very kind people taking good care of their guests. Sophie's breakfasts were fab as were the nearby nature walks.

It's quirky, so if the thought of a Premier Inn makes you shudder, you'll be delighted here. The rooms are unique and interestingly furnished, which is in keeping with a B&B that's the oldest building in Ross and former court house. The owner is around if you need anything but nobody will disturb you otherwise. There's a delightful garden too.
