Chapter House, hotel in Salisbury

Perfectly located at the gates to The Cathedral Close and ten minutes to Stonehenge. The Chapter House is steeped in history and culture.

We went here for my husband's 50th birthday. There were 23 of us and we ate in their private dining room. From start to finish it was exceptional. To booking and communication for various surprises to the rooms we stayed in there that evening. The food was well priced and delicious and the breakfast in the morning was very welcome after a heavy night. Salisbury has very few good hotels, so go to this one.

Salisbury is a very good location for a holiday in the UK.

Salisbury is a very good location for a holiday in the UK. Within the immediate area of the city there is an impressive cathedral (which houses a copy of Magna Carta) and the ruins of Old Sarum. A little further afield, there is the famous Stonehenge World Heritage Site which is very much worth a visit. The city itself is easy to get around - much of it is walkable and there is a good bus service. Due to its rail links, Salisbury can also be used as a base for exploring the wider area. Regular trains run to locations throughout Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire.

St Thomas Becketts Church was a wonderful surprise with the late 15thc paintings. The walking tour of Salisbury with a registered guide was excellent and i would definitely recommend it. The docents in the cathedral were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. More importantly you could ask any question of them and they would endeavour to answer it.

It is a town full of interest - museums, The Cathedral and close, Montpesson House and many more. It has a wide range of shops, cafes and interesting old buildings, full of history. It is easy to walk round. We especially enjoy Elizabeth Gardens and the water meadows to Harnham. The centre is so busy, best taken in small doses. The market square is important to see, especially on market day - and a new department store.

Everthing is within walking distance shops, cathedral etc and there are plenty of places to eat. Furthermore, as this is an old medieval town there are lots of pubs ! so plenty of choice of breweries and food ! Its also based on a grid system so very easy to navigate your way around. We did find that the independant shops, market etc are NOT open on Sundays so if you are coming for shopping make sure you come Monday to Saturday or you will be disappointed ! Our host said when the sun shines Salisbury is the best place to be and with a choice of over 5 rivers you could walk along bathed in sunshine I would agree !

Beautiful city. Amazing old streets and buildings. Small enough to explore on foot. Plenty of places to enjoy food and drink. The Cathedral is stunning. Plenty of independent shops. Nice green open spaces. Lovely for a couple of days.

Go to city visitor center, very helpful.

Go to city visitor center, very helpful. Pretty town, every place walkable. Visit Stonehenge in afternoon, lot less people. Old Sarum was hard to get to and not marked well from bus stop. Magna Carta might not be worth the fee to many.

We spent one night in Salisbury as a launching point for a dawn visit to Stonehenge and it was a perfect spot for this. The hotel has its charm -- it is old and creaky with lots of sloping stairs and walls. My room had an old fireplace (not useable but sweet)and a comfy bed. The men who helped us with our very heavy luggage (up a lot of stairs) were very kind and professional. Salisbury was a lovely surprise as we were visiting on the day of the St. George festival and we had so much fun at the street market.

Staff were fabulous, right from pre-booking. Larry the head chef emailed me how he would accommodate my dietary requirements. The lady on reception was also great as were the servers in the restaurant. All were helpful, polite and unobtrusive. The hotel is perfectly located alongside the river and convenient for the Cathedral and the city centre restaurants, bars and shopping. The room was comfortable, clean and well equipped. Complimentary parking and WiFi are welcome additions too.

Everything, the location is an easy walk into the town centre and Salisbury Cathedral. The Hotel is clean and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful. The room was very large, and the bed was perfect. It was very comfortable and helped us get over jet lag. The area is extremely quiet, and we could control the temperature of the room. Bathroom was large and had a spacious tub and shower combination. The English Breakfast is a must have to start your day.

Breakfast in the cafeteria was excellent, beyond what I had expected. Full English breakfast items plus yogurts, cereals, croissants, fruit and more. Location is more than perfect in the best part of Salisbury right across from the cathedral. Staff were friendly and super helpful even when I called twice to make sure I was driving to the parking properly. The bed was comfy and the room clean & not too little. Bathroom was nice as well. Coffee & tea kettle in the room was nice.

Parking is very easy for a city centre hotel. Friendly and very helpful hotel staff. We had an Executive Double Room which was well equipped and everything worked as it should, the large bed was comfortable. Continental breakfast offerings were not a strength, but everything else was in good supply and the quality was high when compared to the 5* hotel we were staying in prior to arriving at this hotel. The coffee was very good.

Little Dene is a perfectly formed little apartment situated just 25 mins walk from Salisbury Centre. The apartment is clean comfortable and well appointed with the additional bonus of access to a shared garden which was perfect in the light summer evenings. We enjoyed several lovely walks in the area including Old Sarum, Stonehenge and local woods.

We stayed here on the way back from Stonehenge. It was a wonderful hotel in a very spacious and beautifully maintained area. There were ponies and cows on the grounds, which the small children loved. For dinner, we went to a pub recommended by the owner. I would definitely stay here again.
