Comfortable hotel situated on a great location near the centre of Keswick. Staff were friendly and informative. The views from the hotel are spectacular. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with lots to choose from. The hotel also provided complimentary coffee and cake in the afternoon for guests.

The hotel, staff and food exceeded our expectations.
The hotel, staff and food exceeded our expectations. Real ale was well kept and a bonus. The highlight of the afternoons were the RAF jets flying up the valley at tree top hight. People would wait for their arrival.

The scenery is stunning!
The scenery is stunning! Shame about the closeness of the road to our bedroom window!
A cooked breakfast would be an improvement! The room was tiny! I did have another 3 days booked for the end of September but cancelled after our stay! Find somewhere different to eat other than The Kings Head which isn’t as good as they make out!

Gateway to both the Northern and Southern lakes.
Gateway to both the Northern and Southern lakes. A lot of good restaurants in the general area, but book early if in a large group . Hoards of people so visit important places early e.g. Castlerigg stone circle is MUCH better if you're the only group there. You can feel its 4500 years age. Book steam ferries before you go otherwise availability might be low. Ask prices at tea rooms before buying. We paid £33 for seven teas/coffees.

Thirlmere is out in the country, not in the rush of the general tourist population. It is easy to reach Keswick and Ambleside and delightful to come back to the peace.
The King's Head just down the road produces good food.
The countryside is majestic and inviting.
The location is great. Close to the town of Keswick and with plenty of scenic walking routes close by. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable with everything you might need. You could also feel the history of the place,
it was very cosy especially after a day on the fells returning to a roaring fire. The staff were friendly and more than happy to accommodate any requests we had. The breakfast was amazing as was the dinner service. We also had a Sunday lunch which again was very good. We will be back!
The whole property was homey, just what we wanted for a relaxing stay away from the city. We loved the full English breakfast served by the house owner herself. We felt very welcomed by Jean.
The home has a very traditional British and homey feel to it. The location is a perfect retreat as it is located at a scenic, accessible and quiet location. It’s in between Keswick and Ambleside. Plus the thirlmere infinity pool and waterfall is just a hike away which can actually be seen from our bedroom window.
A lovely overnight stay in this cozy farmhouse close to Thirlmere at the foot of the Dodds.
The landlady was friendly and welcoming and my room was very comfortable and had everything I needed. I particularly liked the fresh milk in the fridge and the Thelwell loo seat 😆
The tasty full English breakfast in a traditional dining room setting was perfect for setting me up for the day.
Just a 10 minute walk to the nearby pub and then on a little further to Thirlmere itself.
The staff were very helpful and courteous at all times. The lodge was very clean and the rooms were comfortable and well presented. The continental breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day ahead. We had a meal at the Kings Head just down the road and this was efficiently booked for us by the hotel staff and we would definitely eat there again. We would recommend the Lodge as a place to stay to visit all the area has to offer.
The location is in the middle of two towns, so literally on the highway. But it has great views.
Both towns Keswick and Ambelside are a 20 mins drive. So it's important to have a car if you plan to stay here.
Food is good, though the menu is limited. The outside seating has great views.
There are treks nearby the hotel, though I couldn't do any, but the trail started just behind the hotel.
This hotel was a lovely quaint place with comfortable and stylish downstairs rooms. There was a bar, lounge and dining rooms. It was conveniently placed on the main road between Keswick and Grasmere with walks to Thirlmere and Helvellyn. The food was delicious and well cooked. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking at the hotel,
Lovely big rooms in a gorgeous setting right in the vale. So close to Thirlmere and the other lakes. My partner and I got engaged and they gave us restaurant recommendations, and then kindly gave us credit towards a celebratory drink. Staff were fantastic, friendly and professional. Would definitely stay again! Thank you:)
it was very nice and quiet, the bunks were Cozy, the manager of the property was very kind and put on the fire for me before she left. The barn is also easily accessible via bus, which makes the lakes and scenic hiking routes easily accessible as well.
Staff went the extra mile for us, Making sure we had everything required, breakfast was very good, dinner at the sister hotel The Kings Head was superb and just along the road. And what can I say about the location ' just beautiful' and so peaceful.
What a delightful place to stay! A working farm with lambing about to start, Helvellyn above for a great day's walk, Thirlmere below and well worth exploring. A breath of fresh air.

Very dog friendly
Great little licensed coffee shop open till 9pm!
The host was really lovely and hospitable. She was very knowledgeable about the local region and gave us some good tips when planning our days in Thirlmere.
