Giorgos and María made us feel home during our stay. Homemade food in the taberna and very clean and confortable rooms with the best views of Agua Roumeli. Definetly we will come back.
Right outside the exit of Samaria Gorge, Agia Roumeli Hotel is steps from the beach.

We had an early start so were given a picnic. But it was more than a picnic it was a feast and a wonderful and delicious feast which we ate on our balcony and into the rest of the day. Thank you.
Located 60 metres from the beach of Agia Roumeli. The air-conditioned studios of Artemis have an open-plan kitchenette with seating and dining area. Each is equipped with a fridge and cooking hobs.

Second stay here; good sized clean rooms, friendly helpful owner, nice decorative touches and central but quiet location.

Perfect location for our overnight stay in order to continue our walking trip.
Located immediately opposite the ferry drop point. Quaint and pretty town with a few tavernas and bars to complete. Our room was massive, tidy and clean and staff were welcoming.

super friendly and warm hearted hosts, they helped me a lot with information about Samaria (as I hiked it upwards with an overnight stay and came back the next day), they kept my luggage for a night, so I could hike with small backpack, the room is super clean, the air-con quiet and bed very comfy
Thank you for the lovely stay! I can recommend the place to anyone and would love to come back one day (:

Amazing place! Probably the best in the village. Very friendly and supportive hosts. Squeeky clean room and bathroom. Delicious breakfast - the best I had during 2 weeks in Crete. Highly reccommended!
Set 400 metres from the centre and featuring a restaurant serving homemade dishes prepared with local produce, the family-run Sweet Corner Masxali offers pet-friendly accommodation, 350 metres from...

The location is wonderful and we gad the beach to ourselves.
Nice, quiet village with friendly people and good food...
Nice, quiet village with friendly people and good food facilities. Ideal vacation place with small children. Sea, walking part of Samaria Gorge (from Agia Roumeli to Samaria village and back is durable with children, just take something to eat and drink with you - there are no selling points there). You can also take a walk to Agios Pavlos or (if not afraid of climbing) take a route to the medieval castle ruines ( take less steap route, partly going through a forest - less dangerous and not so hot).
During long stay we tried more than 5 restaurants and liked Faragi and Paralia the most: good meals, friendly owners; we felt almost at home at those places.

Agia Roumeli is a small village, which mainly accommodates those who visit the Samaria Gorge. Access is either by foot from the gorge or by boat from other parts of Sfakia region.
It is definitely recommended to stay in Agia Roumeli after visiting the Gorge, as it is a quite demanding hike and some time to rest and relax is much needed.
Lots of nice restaurants and cafes to choose from. People are warm and welcoming, and the Agia Roumeli beach is also lovely.

In May, after ferries leave, a very sleepy, romantic place to be in. Next day, while travellers from Samaria arrive, a bit crowdy village :-) The atmosphere is very nice, great to experience, a great spot to stay after your Samaria walk and maybe even a bit longer!

Agia Roumeli offers activities for both sea and mountain lovers, and good, Cretan food based on local products. It should thus be considered as a destination on its own and not just a transfer area after exiting the Samaria Gorge.

Wonderful town, away from the big crowds.
Wonderful town, away from the big crowds. Crystal clear blue waters with great swimming and snorkelling possibilities. 2-3 decent restaurants, which in combination with having a small supermarket and our own kitchen was ideal for up to a week.
The town is crowded only for a few hours per day when hikers come down from the gorge. Me and my partner immediately felt at home and decided to stay one more night than planned. A lovely little gem that I’d love to visit again.

The beach has black sand, so is too hot to sit on or walk on...
The beach has black sand, so is too hot to sit on or walk on, and the water is not always clean, depending on the wind direction. Agia Roumeli serves more as an exit or entrance point to Samaria Gorge, which means that most tourists are "one-time" visitors. So related services are overpriced and of poor quality.
Which is a pity, because it is a very nice village, that could be worth staying a couple more days.
The bed is very comfortable, I’ve never seen such a clean hotel, and the staff is very accommodating. Everything was so relaxed, and the only bad thing I have to say is why no one told me that I should come for longer ;) We also had dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant and it was very fresh and delicious, there’s really no reason to go anywhere else. Also, the view from the rooms is simply priceless!
Eleni and her family have been so nice to me, you can tell that they work hard to make this place clean and to make you feel like home. The room has a big balcony that faces the sea, where you can chill after a long walk through the Samaria gorge and if you keep the window open you can fall asleep to the sound of the waves. I wish I could have stayed longer, it was a great experience!
It’s right at the beach, in the center of town, beautiful taverna, cafe and guest house covered in vines and so welcoming. The room was big and perfect for our family of 4 adults (could have been 5) with a balcony and view of the water. the owner Nikos was so helpful and friendly and the dinner and breakfast were authentic Greek and delicious with lots of variety. Was hard to leave!
I loved the location and little beach. It was wonderful to sit out under the trees and drink coffee and eat yogurt with honey in the morning. Beautiful views and great proximity to the Samaria Gorge. We hiked through the gorge with all our stuff to get here...then enjoyed a relaxing 3 night stay. Not fancy but comfortable, with friendly hosts and delicious food!
Right in front of the beach and in the very city center, nearby the cafes and restaurants. We stayed here after the long hike of Samaria Gorge and was everything that we needed for resting and recovering. The room had a view of the mountains and the very dramatic landscape. The owner was very helpful and friendly and gave us many precious tips.
This was one of our best bookings in Crete. After a long hike we decided to stay for a night and then take the ferry next day. Rooms are very new, simple but nicely styled with a fridge. Balcony facing the sea is astonishing! New bathroom with a big shower. Restaurant with an amazing food and the owner of the place very nice and welcoming!
Our room was spacious, clean and with a stunning view of the Libyan sea. Like all rooms in Agia Roumeli this is a basic hotel but it has been renovated, it's right up near the beachfront, it has Air-conditioning that actually works and the owner of the property and the taverna downstairs is very warm and welcoming.
I’ve never been so well taken care of by a hotel in my life. The staff contacted us on our hike there and guided us to help us avoid heatstroke, checking in along the way. After arriving later than expected, dehydrated and overheated, we were given water and care and guidance for over an hour. Just exceptional.
I had so much fun staying here after hiking Samaria Gorge! Mr. Nektarius and his wife were so welcoming and kind and I felt at home the minute I got there. The room was simple but it was very clean, good air conditioning, and the view was great. 10/10 would recommend staying here!
Very nice from start to finish. The host is wonderful and made us feel very welcome. The rooms are basic and very clean. Recommended of you want to stay in Agia Roumeli for some nights and enjoy the quiet after the day tourist horde left with the last ferry.
We got a recently renovated comfortable room for super cheap. The room was just over the owner's minimarket which was really convenient and much quieter than other hotels over restaurants. Agia roumeli is super small so everything was 5 minutes walking max
A spacious comfy room with the sleeping area on the mezzanine and a large balcony. Spotlessly clean. A few hundred metres from the ferry pier and the entrance to Samaria Gorge.
