Very kind and welcoming staff, convenient shuttle transfer from train station, excellent mattress and pillows, private beach nearby, had one of the smaller room and still felt very comfortable, serene location (quietness suspended only sparsely and enjoyably by the train passage), delightful courtyard with old olive trees (likely and fortunately salvaged from a former orchard), bikes available to get around the place.
In the vicinity of the hotel one can also find a very nice namesake restaurant; there aren’t very many other options nearby for lunch/dinner, though for what i’ve managed to see that is not much different than for the rest of the Ascea (with the caveat of the season being only incipient when I visited); but then again, the Being is so much more than eating :) (winking at all the aficionados of eleatic school of thinking wandering here for good reason).
I would very gladly return to Porta Rosa whenever back in Ascea in hope to meet again the same charming people and place.
The Marulivo is a unique design hotel. Once a monastery, it dates back to the 14th century. You'll never forget the view across the Palinuro coast from the panoramic terrace.

Very nice place with a beautiful view on the sea. The owners of the hotel are extremely charming and helpful. The breakfast had a lot of options including eggs and homemade sweets.

Good Italian breakfast, room size was ideal, a lot of external spaces with chairs and tables to have a meal or simply chill. For a 3 starts I found it great and very comfortable. Also really close to the beach.

September was a quiet time to visit, but some restaurants were already closed for the season. Plenty of great food available including breakfast at hotel. Their bistro closed first week of September and their beach site was not operating, but they offered umbrellas and chaise if we wanted. You can walk to anything and there is a gas station across the street with play area for kiddos.
