Big rooms, extremely helpful staff at the front desk, beautiful views, spa facilities are quite fancy. The jacuzzi in our room did not initially work, but staff was very responsive in getting it fixed and compensating us for the inconvenience.

History and historic wines combine in Montepulciano.
History and historic wines combine in Montepulciano. My husband and I are sommeliers, art and history lovers. This town delivers on all scores and the locals are incredibly inviting and friendly - even more than the typical Italian standard. This town constantly has cultural and musical events, some serious and others simply fun in nature. Wineries close by, and the wine bars, closer.

Montepulciano is beautiful and old and hilly and kind of mysterious. It's fun to walk around – although your legs get sore! All the old buildings and streets and alleys were super cool. It was also great being in the heart of wine country. We'd heard a lot about Italian hospitality but didn't get a whole lot of that – it was still fun to explore ourselves, thpough.

The setting was breathtaking.
The setting was breathtaking. The accommodation was picture book perfect and included free parking! The views from the bell tower, directly across the piazza, made the climb worth every step! Highly recommended but allow yourself a minimum of a two night stay!

We had the great fortune of stumbling into the start of their week-long Bravio delle Botti festivities in which the neighborhoods compete against one another to roll wine barrels up the steep streets of the historical center. We got to see fantastic performances by the drum and flagwaving groups, have fantastic dinners put on by each of the 8 neighborhoods (contrade), and enjoy some shows put on in the Piazza Grande. The town itself is steep and filled with cantinas. Gorgeous historical hill town surrounded by gorgeous rolling hills, vineyards, and olive groves. It's Tuscany at its finest. Fairly well touristed, so be cognizant of prices and a few tourist traps, but otherwise very pleasant.

Montepulciano is a small town and everything is within walking distance, but it's very hilly (up and down). There are several good dining/drinking options (Trattoria di Cagnano on via Dell'Opio Nel Corsa was great for a late dinner!) and good for shops (tourist and retail/clothing/leather). Wine tasting is a must too (great wine options by the glass at the Montepulciano fortress and Enoliteca on via Di Gracciano Nel Corso)

This is a very nice city, however not for the faint of heart. You have to be in good shape as you are walking steep up hill to get to the top of the city. The main street is downhill, so if you happen to stay in a hotel at the top of the hill, you are constantly walking up and down to get anywhere. There is some paid parking at the top, the rest of the parking is down the hill. It is a nice city to visit for the day, not worth staying overnight. There are some wine stores, I recommend Talosa,(off a side street near Piazza grande) they have a wine cellar worth looking at as it is an old tunnel built during WWII. Sales girl was very friendly and helpful
The room, really an apartment, was so spacious!! It was in the style of an Italian villa. High ceilings, beautiful tile floors, comfortable furniture, big bathroom with a lovely shower. The beds were comfortable, the sheets crisp, the towels fluffy. We wished it had been warmer because the pool was gorgeous! There is underground parking. There are tables and chairs outside each apartment. All the apartments face each other on a wide walkway.
Be sure to try their restaurant! It is fantastic! This were our favorite meals in Italy!
Breakfast had fresh made pastries and breads; cheese and salami, and fresh fruit; there was a variety of fresh fruit juice to choose from, milk, tea, and coffee--all ENTHUSIASTICALLY served by our host Nicolo bellisimo!!
The hotel was so clean and so was our room. I especially loved the crisp white sheets on the bed!
The family run hotel all participated in making us to feel welcome. Great restaurant 50 meters away that the host recommended.
The old town of Montepulciano is only about a 10 minute drive from this hotel.
The accomodation is ideally located at the foot of Montepulciano (5 minute ride). The accomodation and surrounding garden were huge (for the two of us) and all required facilities were accounted for. We were well received by the owners, who are very friendly and took the time to run us through all the items at the accommodation.
A plus for us, having travelled quite a bit through Italy and stayed at various locations, was how quiet the area is.
An ideal location to explore the surrounding area and get a good rest.
Perfect hideaway in Tuscany hills with lovely view to Montepulciano ancient city. The pool side is one of the greatest we have ever seen.
Joel’s bruschetta are just perfect, dinner and breakfast with Andrea is a pleasure and Marco makes sure you have the best wine choice for your dinner. Thanks a lot to Martin to check-in an make sure everything is fine 👍
We always felt welcomed from the whole team and want to send our BIG THANK YOU for make this vacation so special. We are looking forward to come back. Claus & Julia
Located in a quiet area inside the historic quarter. Excellent decor and well equipped kitchen to cook your own tuscan recipes accompanied with robust wines from the region that you can purchase easily from tasting rooms next to the building. Parking facility is nearby. Shops and numerous restaurants you can walk to will complement the facilities to make your stay in Montepulciano one to cherish for a long time after you are gone. We will definitely come back next time we are in the Toscana region of Italy.
We loved our stay in Montepulciano! The owner Amadeo is so welcoming and helpful and the location of the B&B is perfect. They have an elevator if you have a hard time with stairs. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. The town is absolutely stunning! Definitely recommend the tour of the winery with wine tasting just one block down in the old underground cellars. The Vino Nobile wines will not disappoint.
this is family's hotel. Great breakfast included sweet and salt dishes with homemade cakes and bread. Staff was friendly, helpful, pleasant with positive energy. Staff made a family atmosphere, this was wonderful. Car was safety. Good restaurant is near the Hotel. This is good starter place to visit all towns of Val d'Orcia by car. Center of Montepulciano is 4 km from the Hotel. Top of the top :)
Everything! Calm and beautiful atmosphere and amazing food! The pool was much appreciated by the whole family as it was 35 degrees outside. Stunning sunsets, air conditioning in the rooms (not apartments) and very helpful personnel. Most knew English which made everything easier. The best Italian breakfast we came across during our stay in Italy (not fond of the sweet breakfast concept idea).
Everything -- the staff is really lovely and accommodating, they make you feel right at home. The hotel is situated right outside Montepulciano and the front rooms have a great view of the city and Duomo. The food was exceptionally good! Rooms are comfy and had a nice relaxing time alone in the spa area. Would haaappily return for longer -- amazing value!
We loved the peaceful and relaxing terrace with wonderful views of Montepulciano (minutes away). Our hostess was so helpful - offering suggestions for our visits and lovely conversations. The breakfasts we had were out of this world! Finally, this was the only shower that we encountered in Italy in which my husband could fit (6'7").
Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. The
Location is perfect just 25 minutes walk from the center of Montepulciano, by car there are plenty of parking Spaces specially this time of the year. We will certainly return.
We booked this trip last minute on our way through Italy. WE GOT SO LUCKY as it is usually booked out. One of the highlights of our trip. The hosts went above and beyond. Private chef was so beautiful and her food was amazing.
A very nice view, accompanied with a warm bath watching the sunset hit Montepulciano can only be described as a luxury.
Very nice rooms, and a tasty breakfast, complements a very nice stay at the Salcheto Winehouse.
the hotel is located in the center, however the Google map is directing us to the wrong way to reach the front door of the hotel under a sever weather. Good breakfast and perfect for visiting Montepulciano
Federica and her team were incredible and facilitated every aspect of our time in Montepulciano. Probably the best hotel experience I have ever had. I wish I could give it an 11.
Nice accommodation, nice place a short walk about Montepulciano. Friendly staff. Surroundings charming. Would have been nice to have a hotel shuttle to Montepulciano...
Stunning, historic mountaintop property in the heart of Montepulciano. Breathtaking views from the rooftop terrace and an accommodating and attentive staff.
