We loved the heated floors, the games/activities for kids/adults to do (cornhole, jenga, boccee, etc). the tent was very comfortable, the fire pit and safety great.
Enjoyed our stay and visiting the surrounding area.
Enjoyed our stay and visiting the surrounding area. Old Territorial Prison Museum was fascinating. Lots of parks. Surprisingly there were good food options including Mr. Ed's Diner and a Cajun restaurant. Mugs coffee shop had a great breakfast.

Cañon City is where the Royal Gorge draws the tourism,
but you can find incredible drives with spectacular views
all around you just head west towards South Fork or South to Rye. The city is a blue collar town with very nice people and reasonably priced compared to towns more west or situated in the mountains.

A lovely hotel & we got a very warm welcome when we arrived.
A lovely hotel & we got a very warm welcome when we arrived. I think there were only 13 rooms but ours was lovely & clean & comfortable. The hotel may seem a bit dated but the rooms are cosy & welcoming. Plenty of eating places although we were happy to go to Wendy’s just over the road. Very convenient for The Royal Gorge which was the reason for our visit. No breakfast at this hotel but we did pay at least $30 per room less than previous hotels we had stayed in where breakfast was included. Would certainly recommend this hotel.

Small town but plenty of things to do.
Small town but plenty of things to do. Some bars and restaurants remained open even during July 4th celebration. Art work are scattered along the main street. We even noticed the 3 Kings and the Manger on top of the mountain.

I just want a place with a decent, clean and warm water in the hot tub. I have lupus, so traveling us hard on me. That's why I look for places with a hot tub. Plus, you at booking.com booked me two rooms, five people. It was two people, one room. I don't know what has happened to customer service, making sure everyone is comfortable and happy. Nobody cares about customer service anymore. This saddens and infuriates me as a person who worked jobs having to do with dealing with the public. I understand this world has gone crazy, but if you don't like people, find something else to do. I want to enjoy myself, not sit in my room and wonder where plain common courtesy went.

The Royal Gorge Bridge and train rides and weather was so...
The Royal Gorge Bridge and train rides and weather was so enjoyable. The town of Canon City is interesting and the people especially friendly, and helpful....... enjoyed the restaurants - good variety - my granddaughters (20 + yrs of age) spoke very highly of the town and especially of the park with the river running through it.
I have stayed in a couple different budget hotels in Canon City, and this one (American Inn) was the best. It was clean, the room was cute, and the staff were so polite. We booked a 1 queen room, and there was also a little sofa, desk, and mini fridge in our room. The hotel office even had a few snacks and a Keurig available for guests, which I thought was a nice touch considering it's not the kind of place with a lobby and a daily breakfast.
The room was comfortable, clean & secure, we had a warm welcome from the paperfolding (supposedly for the kids...) Mitch, who was amazingly helpful telling us about everything to see & do in the area. Located right across the street from the Royal Gorge Route Railroad & a few minutes walk from places to eat in Canon City & a short drive from the famous Royal Gorge Bridge & Park it is a convenient overnight stop.
Best welcome ever! As many other reviewers noted, Christine is a wonderful hostess. They keep the place spotless. And she herself is very friendly and helpful with local recommendations. the Inn is easy to find and close to everything in Cañon City. The room was simple, but yet had a fridge and coffee maker -with big mugs! very clean. A lovely family run business.
This is an older facility that has been well maintained but still has the "quaint" feel that I much enjoy. I travel by motorcycle, and so a Motel (aka motor-hotel where I can park directly in front of my room is my preference and that is the design of Travel Inn. It is family run and the folks could not be nicer. It will be my go-to when I'm in the area.
The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was decent. More than normal with biscuits and gravy and powdered eggs. The rooms were a little dated, but basically clean. No frills, but if you want a place to crash whilst enjoying the area sites it was a bit better than camping. Not a lot of mid-range options in Canon City.
This is a modest, older motel. Our room was neat, clean, and comfortable enough. The owner is very nice and helpful. We took a short pleasant walk to a great Mexican Restaurant recommended by our host. We are happy to have found this little gem in Canon City for future recreational trips.
This hotel is next door to a good Mexican restaurant, Village Inn restaurant and a Subway sandwich shop so you don't have to drive after getting to the hotel. It is also just off the main street so there is no traffic noise. Mattress was firm and sheets were crisp. Thanks!
I loved the hotel in the past but not having the hot tubs was a bummer. The breakfast was nice I use to love the biscuits and gravy but they don’t serve it anymore I wish it was more amenities for the price
