They have a small but very well run historical museum.
They have a small but very well run historical museum. The collection of Anasazi baskets is outstanding. We enjoyed the case about Fremont’s 4 expeditions as we are big followers of Kit Carson memorabilia.

The accommodations in the historic hotel are very nice.
The accommodations in the historic hotel are very nice. Don't expect a large shower - but it's well maintained.
The hotel only disappointed on some "changes" from our last stay. (Yes, we returned) No courtesy rolls & coffee in upstairs setting area, no great breakfast in dining room. And, sure, prices have gone up.
The location and the bed are the positives for this historic motel. The location was very good in that it is downtown Del Norte, close to shops and restaurants. It was a challenge to find the entrance to the motel. The motel sits down below street level and the entry looks like the entrance to an alleyway from the main street. We had to circle the block a couple of times before we realized where we needed to enter (note that it is one way). The bed was comfortable.
Tim, the owner, went above and beyond to assist my wife and me. We brought our kayak with us, but soon realized that there was no available transportation up the river. Tim not only volunteered to take us up the river and drop us off, but he assisted us with leaving our vehicle at the river's exit point so that we could readily return to the hotel when we were done! Now that is service!
Excellent option: VERY comfortable bed, spacious room and a very cool decoration. All amenities needed at the kitchen, alongside with a hot shower and cozy ambiance. Would come back for sure to spend more nights and explore more of Del Norte. The location was also great to get access to the Sand Dunes National Park, only 40 minutes drive from the lodge to the entrance of the park.
Nicely renovated and maintained historical hotel.
We had dinner delivered by room service and it was very good.
The staff, from front desk to housekeeping, was helpful and prompt to respond to questions and requests.
Location is good for area exploration.
Bath robes in room are a very nice touch.
Locally owned and operated is always good!
I never got to the hotel because of the snow storm on Columbus Day. The roads were closed by the cops and I had to stay in Chama. The hotel staff was very understanding of my dilemma and did not charge me for the night. I hope to get back there one day -- so that I can experience the great hotel and have the tomahawk steak in the restaurant.
After a rainy cold day the room was warm and the beds were comfortable, the shower was warm. We also ate at their restaurant and the food was delicious. I would definitely book their again and I will always remember this hotel as an excellent place.
honestly one of my best hotel experiences in the USA, so unexpected. excellent facilities, super friendly staff, great attention to detail. I find zero flaws! would love to stay again.
Beautifully restored hotel. Quiet and charming. Lovely elegant restaurant with great food. Staff were really friendly. Our bedroom was very spacious and light
