Win Schulers restaurant in Marshall has been voted the best...
Win Schulers restaurant in Marshall has been voted the best restaurant in Michigan 26 years in a row! The food is outstanding, although the prices are not cheap. I got a shave and a haircut at Palmer's Barber Shop in downtown Marshall for only $26. The cost of the same thing in Rochester Hills, Michigan, where I live, is $80!! I went to Firekeeper's Casino several times and made enough money playing blackjack to cover the cost of my trip.

Halloween arts & crafts show at the fairgrounds was GREAT! Almost missed it.
There should have been more information about that event available in the downtown area.

Marshall has numerous good restaurants to dine at as well as a Norman Rockwall feel to the downtown area. If you ever saw the old Christmas classic, "It's a Wonderful Life", Marshall resembles Bedford Falls. And most likely there will be snow for Christmas!
I was presenting at a conference at Albion College Saturday morning, and stayed at your hotel in Marshall, MI Friday Evening. I liked that. However, Saturday morning at your property, the electricity was out. No alarm clock, heat, lights, internet or breakfast. I was unable to complete my presentation work on my laptop, or iron my clothes. After the electricity came on, there was no hot water to shower up, I had to leave shortly afterwards for the conference without being able to get ready.
It is an old fashioned truck stop motel, leave high expectations at home. Bedding was clean, no bugs observed. Roof was being replaced during our stay, nice about the upkeep but we weren't warned about the noise. Refrigerator worked. Little swamp area was maintained but no wildlife noted- it is right on the highway.
The location is great to the proximity to the new Ford battery plant construction. Breakfast was plentiful and appealing. Parking lot and entrance were well lit (women traveling alone notice that). Especially located in the same parking lot with Holiday Inn Express, it was lit with blue lights ( too dark ).
Quick getting ahold of someone for after hours, lighting in room better than a different hotel we paid more at. Easy checkout next morning. Nice size fridge, able to eat in room.
It was a great location. Quiet but close to our activities. We loved the apartment as well as the farm animals. We will stay there again if we are traveling in the area.
