Warren is an older town with some vacancies of store fronts and some of the older houses vacant. But occupied houses were real classics from the Victorian era and very well restored. While the town seemed a little tired, it seemed very neighborly and quite safe. People seemed to know each other around town and be greeting them and talking to the clerks at stores that were obviously friends to them. So it had a nice small-town feel. A lot of the eateries were closed on Sunday, but that was not too surprising. We found an Applebee's that was suitable for dinner although we would prefer a local place to a chain. The Tops grocery store was huge and filled all our shopping needs, but I still like an independent town bakery. The proximity to Allegheny National Forest was why we picked Warren, and it was very convenient for our day trips into the park.
