Boasting many national treasures, Washington DC is the US capital and home to the world’s most iconic presidential building – The White House. Most visitors start at the National Mall, a huge park stretching from the Potomac River to the Capitol Building. It also encompasses the Washington Monument obelisk and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, of particular significance in US civil rights, commemorated by the latest addition - the Martin Luther King Memorial.
Also here are 11 of the city’s 17 incredible Smithsonian museums, including the unmissable National Museum of American History.
If all this gets too much, wander around Georgetown’s Colonial buildings and take a break in one of the student cafés. Many world cuisines are represented in Washington DC and the city also has its fair share of live music venues, with a surprisingly good jazz scene. The National Symphony Orchestra is based here and the Kennedy Center hosts a range of productions.
DC’s planning policy means there are no skyscrapers, so if you fly into Washingon Dulles Airport over the city, you see its white buildings standing proud. The city is also served by Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport and Washington National Airport. All are quite a way out, so leave plenty of time to get there from your hotel, apartment or guest house booked through Booking.com.

There is a lot to do in DC, plan ahead - some of the Smithsonian museums and places to see, require tickets (most are free but required) - if you don't get the tickets in advance - you may not get to see the place as a lot of folks book in advance.
Prepare to walk a lot. National Mall area has a lot of things to do but be ready to walk.
Plenty of food options all around - this should not be a problem.

I recommend taking an Uber if needing to drive anywhere or taking the Hop On/Off busses. It's the best way to get around. The traffic is awful and noisy. Lots of horns. Depending on where you go, be prepared for homeless and drug addicted people roaming the streets. Over all, there's lots to see and do. Be prepared for lines into the museums and large groups.

Washington DC is great but don’t stay at Embassy Suite...
Washington DC is great but don’t stay at Embassy Suite district by Hilton hotel .. you are paying luxury taxes but the hotel is not a luxury resort!! Another way of nickel and diming your money out of your pocket..rooms are never ready before 4pm and the lineup for check in was like one I haven’t seen except in their Miami Hilton hotel ( stayed there about 4 yrs ago.Luxury taxes on your bill then you have to go into their gift shop or restaurant/bar to use those $25.00 add on of Luxury taxes so criminal.. hotel is dated bathroom they upgrade the carpets in the rooms and lobby and a new lobby bar but the complimentary breakfast and drinks 🥲 loop warm hot meals dishes are kept below the counter ( who’s does that in a luxury hotel) knives and forks are placed in open containers for all dirty hands to touch and put back toaster old and slow you can put your toast in and take the elevator to your room take a shower and be back in time to hear it pop up..the staff picking up the dishes from the table are very friendly and always say good morning the chef cooking the breakfast o let does better when they see you drop a few dollars in their tip bottle.. Elevators run one at a time push the button and only one comes down or up Never two .. the man outside helping guest with instructions and their car works really hard always busy and kind to guest.. one more thing the small refrigerator (mini) need to be replaced items stay warm my insulin was colder in my personal ice cold container than putting it in that mini refrigerator Not a luxury hotel!! Can’t locate where is the ice no sign to tell u and you definitely need a like next to the hall phone to call the front desk can’t see the number to call about the door card not opening the door..

The Smithsonian museums were really nice!
The Smithsonian museums were really nice! We were first-time visitors and noticed arriving a bit after your booked ticket time will ensure a quick entry into the museums. The National Mall is a must and just walking around town and surrounding areas was beautiful. We walked everywhere, which can be far but there are metro busses, bicycles, and scooters to rent, so walking is not the only way to get around.

This city is beautiful, well organised, clean, safe, full of history and kind people. It is a traveler friendly city. I would like to come again. My recommendations - take Hop on-hop off bus for 2 days to explore the city at full. Do not forget to visit Georgetown.
I was in DC for a conference that was taking place across the street, and the Henley was an excellent - and much cheaper - alternative to the conference hotel. The staff were very friendly, and you cannot beat the location if you have work in that area of the city. It is only about a ten minute walk from the Vernon Sq metro station. The room was very clean and not dated at all. There is a bar on the ground floor that looked nice although I did not actually spend any time there.
Beds were pretty comfortable. There were plenty of plug-ins in good spots for using your phone/computer/other various electronics. Staff were great and super helpful! I appreciated the luggage hold that they had since I had a flight much later than checkout. Location was pretty nice. And when compared to other hotels in DC, this was the "cheapest" option.
Such a comfortable place in a great location. My colleague and I stayed here for a conference in Walter E. Washington Center, and it was super convenient. There is a Giant grocery store less than 10 minute walk away, too. We've stayed at a different place before, but this one is much better and also cheaper! We will very gladly come back!
Convenient location. This location is just 5 min away from Subway green line and There is a bus 70 right in front of the door that will drive you to down town. You can tour washington DC without a car.
It is spacious than a regular hotel room.
Nice smart TV.
Reasonable price.
The landlord is nice and responds our questions quickly.
This hotel was, for the price paid, exactly what you'd expect. It did the job in providing a clean, comfortable place to stay that was relatively close to the centre. Slightly dated, but again for the price I was willing to pay for Washington DC, it was exactly what was needed and served me well.
Great location. Easy walk to White House and Hop on Hop off bus stop. Very close to a Wholefood Market and cheap eats. Room was clean and spacious. Beds very comfy. Big windows as well. We were very pleased with our choice. Hotel has a lovely bar and restaurant on site as well.
This place is consistently a great experience. It is clean, comfortable and boasts a friendly staff. Not the fanciest hotel I have experienced but after numerous stays to visit my daughter at Foggy Bottom, I prefer it to all the others including the nearby Marriott.
This hostel is cheap for the Washington D.C. area. Most impressive point is the metro subway is just around the corner.
I was going to the convention center, $2.00 and a 5 minute wait and I was there. The on location coffee house and food was well done.
The hotel is low-cost but a high-value property with a short walk to the Metro. Washington is an expensive city and the hotel was good value. Also, the staff were very helpful. The room was clean and had two Queen beds.
Excellent location near really good restaurants like Tatte across the street. Excellent bar tenders at the hotel, best espresso martini I’ve ever had. Front staff also were very nice!
The location of the hotel is amazing. Walking distance to everything you want to see in Washington DC, It doesn't get any better than this. The best value for money you will find.
Was very happy with the hotel. First time in Washington DC. Would recommend hotel to other people.. Will stay there again when visiting the city next time.
Staff was very friendly. The hotel was cheap compared to others listed in the area at the time and surprisingly had really good rooms, gym and breakfast.
