This special place is close to everything, making it easy to plan your visit. Designed and built by world renowned builder Dan Phillips, this unique art house was built entirely with recycled and salvaged materials such as bottle caps for ceiling designs, broken mirror shards to form mosaic walls and old license plates for roof shingles. A rare opportunity to stay in a one-of-a-kind home that you won’t soon forget! And, right in the heart of Huntsville, just steps away from the town square!
You will not see us unless you need something as we want y'all to enjoy your stay, free of having to deal with others in your space. However, we are ALWAYS more than happy to help if you need something or have questions about the property, the community, local eateries, shops, sights, etc!
The Cedar House is centered in the Huntsville Cultural District. One of the first seven cultural districts designated by the Texas Commission on the Arts. The Cultural District features museums, art galleries, artist studios and workshops, historic homes, theaters and theatrical performances, and cultural events and festivals. The Cultural District is also home to some of the finest historical architecture in Texas. Murals created by world-renowned artist Richard Haas and unique, one-of-a-kind homes, such as The Cedar House, built from recycled materials by renowned artist, ecologist and builder, Dan Phillips. At just 2 blocks from the courthouse/town square, you are in walking distance to virtually everything in the downtown area including SHSU.
