If you have any questions please inquire, as we are happy to offer any information you may be unclear about. ***IMPORTANT ACCESS INFORMATION: Due to a recent Geotechnical Survey on the Waipio Valley access road the County of Hawaii is mandating that tourists cannot drive any vehicle in or out of the Valley. To honor this County rule, we are required to take our guests in and out of the valley until the appropriate road improvements are completed. **Included in the listing rate is one free round-trip shuttle to & from the Valley for up to 4 guests on your check-in and check-out days. Please see the listing for additional shuttle prices. We understand that many of our guests may want to make day trips out of the Valley to explore other parts of the island. We ask that you please schedule these day trips ahead of time to ensure shuttle driver availability. Additional shuttles will be added to your reservation. IMPORTANT GOOD NEIGHBOR POLICY: ~Quiet hours shall be from 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. during which time the noise from the Short-Term ~Vacation Rental shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors. ~Sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive than would be otherwise associated with a residential area. ~Guest vehicles shall be parked in the designated onsite parking area. ~The Short-Term Vacation Rental shall not be used for commercial purposes. The historic Kings Trail, used by none other than King Kamehameha himself runs through Waipio Gardens. The King's Trail is open to locals and tourists with our Estate Gates on either side to maintain our private gardens. If you take a right on the King's Trail the 3-minute walk to Nanaeu waterfalls will dazzle and relax the senses. Nanaeu Waterfalls is the perfect place to meditate or enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool beneath. If you take a left out of the Waipio Gardens Estate gate an amazingly, peaceful, and beautiful 30-minute walk on the King's Trail will take you to the infamous Waipio Black Sand Beach. This beach has been featured in many Hollywood movies including the final scene in Waterworld. The Waipio Beach has two parts, the northern and southern beaches, and are separated by the Wailoa Stream, making the South side where the King's Trail ends making it much more private than the north end of the beach. Near the end of the King's Trail is the Muliwai Trail also known as the z-trail. This trail is the trail that King Kamehameha's powerful warriors used daily to keep themselves fit for battles. It is a trail for advanced hikers in top shape, it leads up the 2000' valley wall, and over the top and down the other side is Waimanu Valley. This hike is a long full-day hike and should only be attempted by seasoned hikers in tip-top shape as the terrain is very steep, and parts of the trail can be dangerous and rough to navigate. If you research Muliwai Trail which leads to Waimanu Valley you can read some great articles on this full-day...long hike for advanced hikers who are physically fit. ***Be sure to bring a water bottle and wash off the sand before making the trek back to prevent chaffing. :) We hope you enjoy your stay!
