Ocean Forest Ecolodge

Hotel in San Pedrillo

Facing the beachfront, Ocean Forest Ecolodge offers 3-star accommodations in San Pedrillo and features a garden, shared lounge and terrace. Truly paradise. We arrived and immediately experienced watching baby turtles enter the sea. It was not too difficult to get there (though it takes some effort); we were there with 69 and 72 year-old parents and they did fine! We had the garden cabin from which we could watch monkeys and toucans eating in a tree while laying in our hammocks. The yoga building is beautiful and there are lots of nice nooks to lay and read. We also got to use the surfboards one afternoon. Plenty of places to hike and things to do. The staff was very warm and helpful. Great vibes.

La Casita

Dos Brazos

La Casita features accommodations in Dos Brazos. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking, and free Wifi. Outdoor dining is also possible at the bed and breakfast. The best place we stayed in Costa Rica. Dario and Frederica have set up something special here in Dos Brazos, near the Corcovado National Park. Set in the heart of the jungle, in a lovely small Gold Mining village this beautiful guest house is a fantastic place to stay. Great welcome, the most comfortable bed, shower and space of our trip so far. A lovely fresh breakfast, great self catering facilities (but Frederica is a chef and will cook your dinner). Watching the jungle birds from their deck was a true joy. They went out of their way to book us a guide for a day exploring the jungle - a shout out to Jose who was a brilliant tour guide to the jungle. He grew up in the village, was fantastically knowledgeable about animals, history and Costa Rican life. Speaking excellent English. He is also a great artist - get him to show you the furniture he makes. Dos Brazos is also worth a mention such a lovely little village, the residents there welcomed guests so warmly, everyone we met had a smile and hola. Try the homemade ice creams advertised from small house! Perfect treat after a hot walk. La Casita means little house, but this is a little house with a big heart thanks to Dario and Frederica’s love and attention to detail. Perfect in every way and I wish we could have stayed longer (forever!). grazie per la vostra accoglienza e ospitalità. è un piacere conoscervi entrambi.

Casa Bolita

Dos Brazos

With river views, this accommodation provides a patio and a swimming pool. We were concerned when we booked this as it is off grid, and we were unsure how we would cope staying there for 4 nights in the middle of nowhere. It was absolutely fine though and we would strongly recommend the place. When you arrive, you leave your car at the Rangers office and walk 10 mins to the accommodation. Val and Ron, who run the place, were so helpful with guiding us there and helping to carry bags. They were so friendly and interesting to talk to about their life there. The house is lovely, being very well equipped, clean, and comfortable. It is very private, not being overlooked and surrounded by a large garden. The place is off grid, but there is solar powered USB point for phones, and WiFi is accessible at the Rangers office. Ice was delivered every morning to use in the Pelican cooler, which worked so well to keep everything cool. You need to take all the food with you as there are no restaurants in the local area. The pool is big and lovely to cool down in. The wildlife is amazing, just be prepared to share the accommodation with some of it, there is a small colony of bats in one of the bedrooms, which are harmless and don't bother you and are fascinating to watch. The bird dawn chorus is one we will never forget, so many sounds, along with the magical fire flies at night. Can't list everything we saw, but highlights including the swallow tailed kites, white hawk following the squirrel monkeys along the river. We sat by the river for 3 hours early one morning and let the wildlife come to us. We saw so much! It is a wonderful place and an experience we will never forget and are so glad we did. If you like wildlife, this is the place for you.
