We found a true hidden Paradise: Harmonie between an undisturbed nature and us guest, very friendly hosts, wild animals around us, ecological comford and other guest from different nations that we shaired our views with. We found a harmonie between people and beautiful, stunning nature, great healty food every day … empty beaches. We are thankful that such an experience is possible.

Bolita Trails and Lodging offers accommodation in Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre, 14 km from Puerto Jimenez. The property offers 14 kilometers of hiking trails, adjacent to Corcovado park. What an amazing experience. The hostel is situated on the border of Corcovado National Park and offers a budget friendly alternative to hiking in the jungle and spotting wildlife. We saw sooo many different types of birds,insects and even a snake. The hiking trails are easy to find and well maintained. Bear in mind that you will need to trek 30 min to get to the hostel and bring enough food to cook yourself during the duration of your stay. There is no fridge, so plan accordingly.

La Casita is situated in Dos Brazos. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. Guests can make use of outdoor furniture if they wish to dine or sit outside. The best place we stayed in Costa Rica. Dario and Frederica have set up something special here in Dos Brazos, near the Corcovado National Park. Set in the heart of the jungle, in a lovely small Gold Mining village this beautiful guest house is a fantastic place to stay. Great welcome, the most comfortable bed, shower and space of our trip so far. A lovely fresh breakfast, great self catering facilities (but Frederica is a chef and will cook your dinner). Watching the jungle birds from their deck was a true joy. They went out of their way to book us a guide for a day exploring the jungle - a shout out to Jose who was a brilliant tour guide to the jungle. He grew up in the village, was fantastically knowledgeable about animals, history and Costa Rican life. Speaking excellent English. He is also a great artist - get him to show you the furniture he makes. Dos Brazos is also worth a mention such a lovely little village, the residents there welcomed guests so warmly, everyone we met had a smile and hola. Try the homemade ice creams advertised from small house! Perfect treat after a hot walk. La Casita means little house, but this is a little house with a big heart thanks to Dario and Frederica’s love and attention to detail. Great location to allow you explore the wilderness of nature while enjoying the modern comfort. The hosts are a very friendly and helpful couple. When we were leaving, I said to Nony, I don’t want to return the key to you because my heart wants to stay here.

Offering garden views, Finca la Bonita, Playa Carate in Carate offers accommodation, a restaurant, a garden and a terrace. A patio with mountain views is offered in each unit. This place is a hidden gem! A rustic cabin with the basic facilities you need to experience the jungle up close and immerse yourself in nature. Christian and Gabriel, along with Marley the dog, are welcoming local hosts who have a huge amount of insight, history, and knowledge to share. They offer different tours, and we recommend all 3 we did - the day tour in Corcovado, kayaking, and night turtles. They also offer meals if you let them know in advance (there are no easy options locally, so we'd highly recommend), and this made the stay really easy too. This cabin is for those looking to experience the jungle on their doorstep (literally!), if you are after a luxurious stay there are eco lodges nearby, but for an authentic experience (and possibly stepping out of your comfort zone) we would 110% recommend staying here. With Rincon Beach reachable in a few steps, Kinkajoungalows - Amaya Family, Drake Bay, Osa Peninsula offers accommodation, a restaurant, a garden, a terrace and a bar. This property is beautiful. I loved how it is right by beach, literally from my bungalow to the beach was a 1 minute walk. The rooms are spacious and clean, I loved the large front porch where you can sit outside and enjoy coffee or read and watch all the wildlife. This place is also run by a native tico family, and they make you feel like you are at home. There is a restaurant and bar on the property with great food and drinks!! You can grab a mojito and chill in the hammocks by the beach to watch the amazing sunsets. A little tip I would say is it bring cash because you will need it for boat rides and it’s better to pay for tours and food with cash to save some money on taxes. The WiFi is not the fastest speed but I was able to work completely fine from it. I would definitely recommend staying here, this place is absolutely gorgeous.

Located in Dos Brazos, Casa Bolita provides accommodation with a private pool, a terrace and pool views. With river views, this accommodation features a patio. We were concerned when we booked this as it is off grid, and we were unsure how we would cope staying there for 4 nights in the middle of nowhere. It was absolutely fine though and we would strongly recommend the place. When you arrive, you leave your car at the Rangers office and walk 10 mins to the accommodation. Val and Ron, who run the place, were so helpful with guiding us there and helping to carry bags. They were so friendly and interesting to talk to about their life there. The house is lovely, being very well equipped, clean, and comfortable. It is very private, not being overlooked and surrounded by a large garden. The place is off grid, but there is solar powered USB point for phones, and WiFi is accessible at the Rangers office. Ice was delivered every morning to use in the Pelican cooler, which worked so well to keep everything cool. You need to take all the food with you as there are no restaurants in the local area. The pool is big and lovely to cool down in. The wildlife is amazing, just be prepared to share the accommodation with some of it, there is a small colony of bats in one of the bedrooms, which are harmless and don't bother you and are fascinating to watch. The bird dawn chorus is one we will never forget, so many sounds, along with the magical fire flies at night. Can't list everything we saw, but highlights including the swallow tailed kites, white hawk following the squirrel monkeys along the river. We sat by the river for 3 hours early one morning and let the wildlife come to us. We saw so much! It is a wonderful place and an experience we will never forget and are so glad we did. If you like wildlife, this is the place for you.
