Located in Lappeenranta, a 10-minute walk from Lappeenranta Harbor, Hotelli Rakuuna provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking and a shared lounge. We chose to break our return journey from Juva via Savonlinna at Lapeenranta. We weren’t sure what to expect but liked the look of this hotel, which is part of a former military barracks on the edge of the city. The outside of the hotel has an institutional look to it but the interior has been tastefully decorated and the rooms are very pleasant. Each room is named after a person who was stationed at the barracks and there’s a little bio about them on the desk. Room was a good size with individually controlled air conditioning and, wonder of wonders, a window that opened. Bed was large and linen was pristine. The bathroom is modern but I was surprised that there was shower curtain rather than shower screen, given the pricing of the hotel. Excellent blackout curtains that are needed in summer where there is daylight almost 24hrs a day. The building is solid. Very solid. This means that it’s well soundproofed from outside noise and in the halls. The second floor has a ‘relaxation area’ which is like a common room where there’s a fridge for you to leave cold items, kettle, ice machine, coffee maker tables chairs, a wide screen TV etc. They also have a separate play room for kids. On the third floor is a recreation area with small pool table, air hockey etc. Everything is in perfect condition. Breakfast is in the breakfast room on the ground floor. People have complained that the breakfast is ‘not that great’ but coming from a country where breakfast is *never* included, a breakfast of cereal & bread, cheese & ham, yoghurt & pastries, coffee and juice is a real treat.

Offering free access to spa and fitness facilities, this hotel is by Lake Saimaa in Imatra, 7.5 mi from the Russian border. WiFi access is also free. Our favorite hotel in a lovely place by the lake surrounded by pine forests. We stay at Chalets type of rooms which are great and have a private sauna. Nice SPAs.

Located in Imatra and with Angry Birds Activity Park Saimaa reachable within 4.4 miles, Loft Family Hotel has express check-in and check-out, allergy-free rooms, a shared lounge, free WiFi throughout... The room was very clean, the rest of the hotel too. A nice kitchen to cook food too.

Located in Imatra, within 3.4 miles of Angry Birds Activity Park Saimaa and 17 miles of Saimaa Canal Museum, Imatran Portti provides free WiFi throughout the property. The accommodation was very clean and check-in was super easy. Lovely and really helpful host, who responded immediately when I had some issues. Also, there was free tee and coffee for everyone :) I’d totally recommend staying at Imatran Portti!!!

Housed in a former police station, Gasthaus Patruuna is located in Joutseno and offers pet-friendly accommodations. Guests can enjoy free sauna access and free private parking. Clean and small rooms contains fridge, microwave oven, TV, table and beds. In principle it's possible to eat inside the room, but a big kitchen with a lot af different stuff was also there. You can easily cook and eat in the kitchen as well. Behind the building there is a green yard with tables. A couple of common restrooms are pretty clean. The place was really chip and nice. Pets are allowed (surprisingly) without extra charge. Good place to stay 1-2 nights

Just 492 feet from Imatra Spa Areena ice hockey rink, this hotel features free sauna, WiFi and parking access. Cross-country ski trails are found right outside. Very private, very clean, quiet location, sporting center nearby, golf club, tea/coffe in the lobby, no coffe machine in the room, thou. No bathroom items , like shampoo, soap, etc.
