Hôtel L'Argonn' Auberge is located beside Argonne Forest, 7 km from the village of Varennes-en-Argonne. Guests can relax in the hot tub and in the sauna. The rooms feature a flat-screen TV. Very easy to find in the centre of a small village. There is plenty of free car parking available. The rooms are very large, clean, comfortable, well appointed and very quiet. The staff are lovely and speak reasonable English. The food in the restaurant is excellent and very good value for money. It is a good base to explore the Ardennes and is very, very popular with hunters.

Stay in Hotel Le Pélican, located in Charleville-Mézières, home town of the French poet Rimbaud. It is a 10-minute walk and 5-minute drive from the centre. It was very clean; our room & bathroom were large & well-appointed; the location was nice; the bed was comfortable; the flowers in the window-boxes were lovely; the buffet breakfast was wonderful; the manager was friendly & courteous, although we didn’t speak the same languages.

We used the diner in the hotel, quality and taste of the meal was perfect, good chef! Staff was helpful and friendly. Next morning we used the Spa facilities, over here we found the same quality of design and cleanliness as in the rest of the hotel. Overall a great place to stay and to return in the future!

The breakfast was continental style and plentiful. The hotel was a short distance from the river with some lovely walks.
