Boasting wonderful views across the Stour and Box river valleys, this privately owned inn is set on a hill in the picturesque village of Stoke-by-Nayland, on the Essex and Suffolk border. Breakfasts were very good , made with local produce, I think . (apart from the baked beans). The staff were friendly and prompt. Very impressed. The rooms were lovely and quiet, not too close to the pub.

Set in beautiful Suffolk countryside, this grade II 16th-century coaching Inn’s offers rooms with antique furniture and free Wi-Fi. The traditional restaurant and bar provide great food and real ales.... This was a lovely place. The staff were excellent. The restaurant was fabulous. We will return for sure.

With free parking and WiFi, The Mill Hotel is in the centre of Sudbury, on the banks of the River Stour. It has a bar, restaurant and sun terrace each with picturesque views over the meadows. the beautiful views of the meadows! the staff was so friendly and helpful. we had a great time.

Situated in 300 acres of countryside on the edge of the Dedham Vale and just off the A134, this hotel is approximately 20 minutes’ drive from Colchester and Ipswich. clean, smart, great golf club bar and main hotel bar. Restaurant was great, good food and very good service.

Situated in a small town, this inn provides real ale, good home-cooked food from local suppliers, a fine wine menu and live entertainment on a regular basis. Very warm welcome from Charlie and staff. Our room was so warm and cosy on a freezing cold night. Lovely bathroom. The breakfast was in the conservatory of the cafe that is attached to the accommodation. It was beautifully cooked and piping hot.
