Quiet location within walking distance from Kirkcudbright. Lovely countryside and views. Hotel was charming and had small number of rooms so not crowded. Owners and staff were friendly and cheerful and helpful. Room was very comfortable and clean and full of original features. Good en-suite facilities. Breakfast was full of lovely options, and due to Covid restrictions, the dining was well spaced out. Views from breakfast dining room were very nice indeed. Great cycling countryside so would defo go back there with bikes. Thumbs up, Arden Hall Hotel :o)

Luxurious and beautifully decorated throughout with exceptionally comfortable room. Staff were very helpful and had storage for our bike. Were able to adjust evening menu to suit our vegetarian diet and food was excellent.

The location was amazing - right on the seafront. Our room had a beautiful view of the bay so that even if the weather was poor we would still have the experience. Food was wonderful and the staff and locals were so friendly to us and our doggie. Lovely sitooterie outside the hotel. We will be back!

Originally an 18th century mansion, Cally Palace is now a sophisticated golf hotel just 48 minutes’ drive from the market town of Dumfries. Stunning location, beautifully restored property, extremely nice inside. Dog friendly with dog allowed to sit in conservatory bar and permitted to remain in room unattended. £10 charge per night for dog. Small but well maintained health and fitness suite with pool, jacuzzi, sauna and a small gym area. Golf on site plus local forest walks in what was the house grounds. Staff very pleasant and efficient. Good choice of cold and hot breakfast items on a self service basis. Restaurant was high quality with very good locally sourced produce.

The hotel is perfectly situated for access the the forrest park and (although we were not mountain biking this time) close to Kirroughtree bike park. The restaurant food was perfect for two ravenous cyclists; tasty and good value and serve good beer. I thought the accommodation was particularly good value. They also have a safe place to store bikes which was also perfect for us.

The staff were friendly and helpful and our room had a modern shower (hot) with separate toilet and a comfortable bed. We loved our stay , the fire in the lobby is very cozy and we really enjoyed the ambiance there for a drink in the evening. Our room was lovely and comfortable, we were travelling with a small baby and were given an extra heater to heat up the room as it was an extremely cold day. Breakfast was delicious and everything was perfectly cooked The location and grounds are stunning- located right on the river and there was an abundance of wildlife we saw oyster catchers , red kites , guinea fowl and others. The hotel is beautiful and our daughter thought it was a princess castle. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come stay again.

Lovely hotel have stayed there a few times. No problem with parking, only 30 minutes from ferry terminal. Dog friendly. The restaurant food is very good for evening meal and breakfast.

Caravan was spotless and beds very comfortable (also loved the “is it me you’re looking for” gift of essentials that I did actually forget to bring with me! Van heats up really quick and everything was easy to use (I always struggle with gas appliances but these worked first time every time) bedding was provided but no towels. Caravan park itself if great, very clean, everyone is pleasant and happy to help, there’s a play park (well maintained) a bar (reasonably priced drinks and bar snacks and an arcade attached to it for the kids and big kids) and shop/reception (where you check in, the shop part is pretty basic, more for “oh I forgot xyz” so I’d pop to a supermarket for all your bits) within walking distance (7mins to be precise) of an inn for all day food and drinks, there’s fields surrounding caravan park with sheep, goats and horses, there’s rabbits everywhere (daughter was obsessed with those and spent hours looking for and counting them) 20-30 mins drive and you can go to dalscone park or Mabie farm park.
