If you’re touring then this is a perfectly adequate stopover hotel. Mull of Kintyre is a beautiful peninsular and well worth a look. If your plans involve a stop at the Southern end of the peninsular then the Argyle is in the right place. A large building with a somewhat tired and dated decor but clean, good sized rooms. The staff were pleasant, professional and suitably attentive and the breakfast was good. Overall, good value for money but not somewhere you’d rave to your friends about.
Glenbarr
We visited for one night out of season.. Glenbarr is a tiny hamlet on the Atlantic coast of the Kintyre peninsula. The room was warm and comfortable and very quiet. There was also a communal living/dining/kitchen for use if required. We went to a local hotel for our meal but will use the kitchen facilities when we return. Breakfast was taken in the adjoining café, continental breakfast with a hot roll which was good. We would stay here again.
.Everything about the place. We stayed early October 2021. The place had an "at home" feel to it. The hosts were so attentive and couldn't do enough for us.. Super warm super comfortable and super clean. Breakfast was fab. We stayed in 5 hotels over the time we stayed in kintyre and this was by far the best. We used the hotel just as a place to sleep for the night but will most definetly be back in future for a full break.
Campbeltown
Brilliant location for exploring the South of the Kintyre peninsula, only a short drive from Campbeltown, (or walk/bus if you prefer). Apartment has everything you need to feel at home, we settled to the place the minute we walked in the door. Although situated near a road, we had no problem at all with traffic noise, and enjoyed a peaceful sleep every night. Lovely unobstructed views over fields to the hills.
Tarbert
Lovely apartment with tasteful furnishings and decor. The lounge area was spacious, the kitchen well equipped, the bed comfortable and it was nice to have an outdoor seating area. Our host rang us to let us know the accomodation was ready if wanted to check in early. The Steadings is in a very convenient location with easy access to Arran, Islay, Kintyre, Cowal Peninsula and more.
Campbeltown
It was a lovely apartment right near the harbour in Campbeltown. The host has thought of everything, even milk and teabags, and tunnocks teacakes. It was exceptionally clean, and the facilities were excellent. Best shower ever!!! Already planning my next visit to stay there. A lovely space to stay and relax in whilst exploring Kintyre.
Dog friendly. The food was amazing. We had dinner and breakfast on our stay and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Seen to any need. We stayed here as a stop off for our tour around kintyre. The hotel is on the beach which is great for a stroll for your pooch. Will definetly be back
Bellochantuy
Beach front location. Argyll Hotel right beside the small caravan site. The hotel has a bar and does amazing food. The beach is very quiet and clean golden sands. Roads are quiet and the Kintyre Peninsula is feels very secluded and not touristy. Dog friendly caravan and hotel.
For Scottish people, the breakfast is copious. For French people it is less elaborate. However we would appreciate with bread, jam, marmalade and butter, a fruit and a yogurt with cereals and milk (especially for the walkers on the Kintyre way).
Alan was so lovely. We didn’t get to speak to him for more than 6 minutes but in those 6 minutes he was great 😂. Our room was on the top floor (the Mcmillan Clan room), which is such a coincidence because my husband is a McMillan! On the way up to the room, you get to look at all the nice pictures and decorations. The rooms were surprisingly spacious and so was the washroom/shower. The tv is a major bonus for me (helpful for restless nights) . I was extremely comfortable and I loved the view of the City we had. The breakfast he offered were so simple yet SO perfect. We’re not big on breakfast but when we have early morning activities and long days, the rolls do give you the fuel. The town itself holds 2 and a half bars but I can tell you that we had a great time. I certainly appreciated reaching the B&B after several pints ;). Also, It’s really helpful to know you are about 10-15 minute drive away from the Port. If I ever need to stay in Tarbert, I don’t think I’d look elsewhere. Thanks for everything !
Great breakfast, friendly accommodating staff, beautifully kept property, large comfortable room.
Very relaxing place. Excellent work by the caretakers. Functional facilities. Ideal for our needs over the weekend.
Mark went over and beyond to accommodate us last minute. we cannot thank him enough
What a beautiful little gem 💎 place and people were lovely and couldn’t fault. If you want tranquility in absolutely stunning surroundings then this is place for you. Bonus points for brilliant Wi-Fi for whole family for evenings. 10/15 minute walk through woods to beautiful little coffee shop selling the best homemade cake 🍰 and lovely coffee ☕️ The drive down to Campbeltown and all surrounding areas are just breathtaking. Already missing the place ❤️
We stayed three nights in Tarbert to make our trips to Kintyre peninsula. Andrew did provide a brilliant service, we enjoyed the stay. The B&B is located near to the Village where you can grab your beer or some food.
Due to break down I was really late He was so understanding and so helpful with my luggage, He explained tea coffee machine nothing was to much trouble room was nice and cosy on entering the room ..
Very friendly staff, nice clean warm room, really nice food and an amazing whisky collection.
