Mike and his family were most welcoming and the meals they provided were tasty and healthy. All tours offered by Mike are well worth the money. The Ni-Vanuatu people and friendly and genuine. A couple of suggestions would be to take your own torch with rechargeable batteries. A light jacket for the coolness of the volcano and a power pack for your phone recharge. One last thing don't forget that while on the island you will need cash to pay for tours and and your accommodation. Tanna Island needs to be on everyones bucket list and the Castle Tree House is the place to stay for a back to basics experience.

Rockwater Resort is an absolute diamond find! The attention to detail in everything from the guest interactions, the room, the food and the resort itself. I spent three days in this gorgeous place, not only doing the Tanna Island top sights (Mt Yasur volcano, Blue Cave, traditional village tour and the Giant Banyan tree), but simply spending time around the resort by the pool with a book or snorkelling off the front cliffs. Silvana and John are absolutely beautiful hosts with their care and attention for the experience of your own and other guests with the island and Vanuatu as a whole.

Boasting a bar, Rocky Ridge Bungalows is set in Tanna Island. With garden views, this accommodation provides a balcony. The holiday home has family rooms. Tom and his family were kind and helpful hosts. The cottage closest to the sea offered stunning views of the sea and a great deal of privacy.

Situated in Loanengo, Glowing Mountain view tree house features accommodation with a public bath and an open-air bath. This beachfront property offers access to a balcony and free private parking. The hospitality of Philip, Susan and their sons was absolutely incredible. They were so gracious with their time without being over bearing on your privacy. This is the spot to stay when checking out the volcano side of Tanna. You will have everything you need to see the vanuatu culture from the perfect location. For reasonable rates, the hosts will take care of any other logistic you need. -Set up the 2 hour car ride to and from the airport. -Local recipe dinners by Susan and she’s a great cook. I believe they offered lunch as well but I was going on these great adventures they offer to guide you through: -A local village that will show you dances and rituals of their indigenous culture -A hot spring heated river that flows into the ocean overlooking the volcano -And of course, the hike to the rim of the volcano. I had so much time to chat with the family and they are all so kind. I don’t leave reviews, I was very compelled on this one. Stay in this treehouse. Friendly reminder to grab cash and break it down in Port Vila or at the market in Tanna.

Offering a restaurant, a bar and sea views, Alofa Beach Bungalows is located in Lénakel, 100 metres from the beach. All bungalows feature a balcony. Free on-site parking is provided. As we were travelling on a budget and keen to meet the locals Alofa Beach bungalows was the perfect balance of comfort and friendly hospitality. Simple, relaxing and authentic looking bungalows with ensuite, running water and hot showers. The host were lovely and ready to help with whatever we needed. The food was nice. Pancakes for breakfast :) The bungalows are near a long stretch of coral strewn beach typical of Vanuatu and close to the local village. Perfect alternative to the resorts if you're after a more authentic experience.
