Located in the Assegaay Nature Reserve just outside the town of VanWyksdorp, Rooiberg Lodge features an outdoor swimming pool and on-site restaurant all surrounded by the Rooiberg Mountain Range. driving towards the lodge is a stunning drive. arriving in this paradise valley completes the journey. We were dearly welcomed and felt at ease right away. A dip in the pool got rid of the dust from the drive. a large pool good for some lanes in the morning. We stayed at a cottage. it’s all well equipped. a strong AC will get it cool. although it was very comfortable end of afternoon. the night was cool so windows open and natural AC came in. we took a tour and David showed us some awesome spots. including a view on the giraffes. breakfast afterwards was a real treat. we left feeling like completely spoiled. which we were. it’s hard to compare this to many a standard. it was a 5 star-plus-turbo-A stay. A warm welcome, a basket of tea and coffee, fresh pomegranates and the best apricot jam. Walks to look at plants and rocks, a game drive to see giraffe and antelopes. And just sitting on the stoep and ‘being’ in the space and tranquillity of the Karoo.

Offering a seasonal outdoor pool and views of the Rooiberg Mountain range, Watermill Farm Cottages is located 3 km from the village of Van Wyksdorp in the Western Cape Region. The scenery was stunning. The walks around the farm were good. There is also a easy walk into VanWyks Dorp The hospitality of the hosts was exceptional. I loved my stay . Rustic and charming.

We were on a 22 days road trip over the Dec 2023 Jan 2024. We spent our Christmas at Sipreslaan. This place was amazing. The cottage was extremely well maintained. The vineyard and the mountains are breathtaking. I watched TV and Towerkop Mountain at the same time.
