The hotel features hot-spring baths, a restaurant serving breakfast and free WiFi throughout the property. This ryokan is introduced in Michelin Green Guide Japan. It's really hard to express how superb this stay was. And it was only 1 day. I imagine this is thanks to type of the place, not being typical hotel, but rather traditional ryokan with it's quality. From the beginning, the staff was excellent. Helpful, informative, easy to talk to. The room, comparing to our other hotels, was huge. Sleeping on futon was our best sleeping experience during whole stay in Japan. We have booked private bath, and again - everything well prepared, all important things available in the room. We were provided also with yukatas to be used in ryokan, but in addition we could also use more colorful that could be used outside. Hotel is 5 minutes walk from main station and on the way to old town of Takayama. The last but not least - breakfast was the best we had in Japan. We have chosen Japanese one and we could try many elements.

Incredible place to stay. I spent two nights here, enjoying the local scenery and had the pleasure of eating some great food (which was an amazing set of back-to-back courses). Everything was exceptional, the installations, the personnel, the atmosphere, the location, simply, there are no words.
The food is another part of the history. Yes, can be weird that the dinner is at 6 pm, but it has an explanation that you must experience by yourself.
It was the most beautiful and memorable experience in our traveling life.

The ultimate choice for an authentic Japanese Ryokan experience! We had a room with Tatami mats and futon beds, a private bathroom and we got to wear Yukatas in and out of the hotel. The staff was super friendly and helped us with whatever we needed and breakfast was also great (Both the Japanese and European one). The Train and Bus stations were just 2 minutes walking distance. Thanks for everything!
Meals were excellent, you could tell that a lot of effort was put into the preparation and presentation of each dish. We also enjoyed the onsen, even though it was not private, no one else used it while we were there. Hospitality was also top notch with staff who took care to explain how everything worked at a ryokan and even sent us away with small gifts. The free yukata rentals were a nice touch too.
This is a charming ryokan, in a great location with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in a Japanese style room, and found the futons very comfortable (although were also sneakingly glad to have the normal sofa to sit in at other times). The atmosphere of the place is great, and the yukatas they provide - and the way they encourage you to wear them around the ryokan, including to breakfast - makes the whole experience very fun. Thank you for making our stay in Takayama so enjoyable!
A very good ryokan, a staff that welcomed us and explained all the facilities, we got a yukata (traditional dress), the dinner was very good with an aesthetic presentation and lots of small and tasty dishes. Nice onsen.
The location of this ryokan with its natural onsen (natural hot springs) by the river is just amazing! The private onsens that are across the hanging bridge are easy to book, wished we were allowed to stay longer when its not busy.
The outdoor onsen was beautiful. I enjoyed the rooms being traditional tatami mats and futons. Facilities all very clean. Well located for hiking.
Traditional Japanese Ryokan with nicely decorated rooms. This was my first Ryokan experience and I have never felt as well cared for as during my stay there. Futon was very comfortable, too (I have never slept on one before). Staff is very attentive and helpful. Great inhouse onsens. Yukata were available for free for guests. Many ammendities were available for free and I loved their shampoo. Takayama old city center is just a 15 min walk away. Takayama station is just 6 min away by foot.
Vegetarian traditional breakfast was offered upon request! We loved it and our whole stay at this traditional Ryokan! The Onsen is not too hot (still hot haha) and super relaxing. There are even two private Onsen available free of charge (min. 2 people). The rooms are very beautiful and quiet and you’ve got the opportunity to wear Yukata during your stay. We can highly recommend and would love to come back!
Food is the highlight here. Both of the breakfasts I had were wonderful feasts, with warm dishes cooked on little burners at the table. One had crab, beef and tofu stew, eggs, bacon, sausage, all in one meal. The onsen are great. Staff are friendly. All the usual trappings of a Ryokan are here, sandals, tatami, yukata, keys with huge blocky keyrings
