Ross is an interesting town full of history.

Ross is an interesting town full of history. It is also central to the area for trips out. There are activities in the area, especially if you like the outdoors, all within a half hours drive. It is close to Hereford, Ledbury, Symonds Yat and the Wye Valley in general, The Forest of Dean, Monmouth, Gloucester and any other place you might wish to visit for the day. Chepstow is a little further but worth the visit. The roads are generally good A roads and the M50 gets you quickly to the M5.

Historic border town with easy access to surrounding scenic areas and towns. A good selection of independent shops and restaurants. Good views over the Wye valley and a small friendly theatre. Relatively unspoilt.

    Rather disappointed.

Rather disappointed. Town looked tired and had seen better days. Difficult to walk along the river for all the bushes. Having said that, it did rain every day and nowhere looks good unless the sun shines

The King's Head, rather like Ross-on-Wye itself, looks a little tired in places, but it is an old coaching inn which has seen a lot of life! Everyone working in the hotel is very friendly and welcoming, and our room was comfortable. Plenty of hot water and a good bathroom is what you really want after a long day on the road, and that's what you get here. Even better was the restaurant where we had the best meal of our tour. It was faultless. The King's Head is obviously popular with locals which is a good sign too.

The building is lovely, lots of steps but plenty of handrails. There is a terrace so you can sit outside. The staff are super friendly and available for anything you need. You are given a code so you can come and go when you want and the parking is close by. There was a heater in the room so you have heat when the heating is off. There was a fireplace in the room although it was blocked off and not usable. Plenty of character and furniture. There was also a good sized washbasin in the room.

Very welcoming and helpful host. Super location close to the town and pubs. Also super convenient for the 2 day canoe trip I was on as it's only 5 min walk from the halfway stop off point. The hotel has a very rustic feel and original features harking back to its origins, which as the host told me are from the 1600 to 1400's! Super place to stay and if I'm ever coming back to Ross in the future definitely somewhere I'd look to book again. Fantastic price point for the hospitality you receive.

A perfectly located retreat with a first class restaurant in which to enjoy the evening. From arrival to departure, the owners and staff made me feel very at home and the service level delivered on the promise of this lovely hotel. My room had great views across the apple orchard at the front of the hotel and I enjoyed my stay, albeit one night only. Will definitely return and thoroughly recommend a stay for business or pleasure.

Dinner, lovely present food. Steak was the best I have ever tasted. Good spacing of tables. Lovely decorated restaurant. Sat in the conservatory for breakfast. Bedroom was light, 2 windows, situated at the front of the Inn, with views of the countryside, rolling fields and view of castle. Enjoyed a drink or two outside the front under a brolly as it was a hot weekend. Plenty of parking.

Excellent hotel ideally located close to town centre and restaurants. We had a very spacious room with wonderful views across the Wye valley. Breakfast was excellent on the one morning we had it with staff very attentive. Overall a great old traditional hotel at a great price. We recommend No.3 Restaurant and Avalino to eat - both within 10 minutes walk

Orles Barn is an exceptional hotel. Roxy and Matt are the nicest, kindest people you will ever meet. The food (Matt is the chef) is quite simply the best I've tasted in any hotel anywhere! You will be treated like royalty at the hands of Roxy, who is such a warm and genuine person. I LOVE staying here and cannot recommend Orles Barn highly enough.

We booked Orles Barn after our original travel plans changed. I'm very glad that they did. If I return to Ross on Wye I would definitely stay here again. The property is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It's an easy walk into the town centre along the river. The breakfast was the best I've had in a long time.
