Staff friendly but due to location opposite a nightclub and the fact it’s an old building with very poor sound insulation not the place for a good sleep.
Situated just 43 km from Elan Valley, The Dolfor Inn features accommodation in Newtown with access to a garden, a bar, as well as bicycle parking.

I stayed at Dolphor Inn as I was photographing a wedding at Plas Dinam (15 mins away) and I needed somewhere to stay the night before and night of the wedding. As a lone female traveller I'm very particular about where I stay and I couldn't have felt more safe. The staff were amazing, lovely people and couldn't do enough. There is a decent selection of wines at the bar, and the breakfast in the morning is so yummy.
Rooms are nice, modern, warm, clean and homely. Wifi is great too. Double plugs either side of the bed (loved this!) and a decent hair dryer in the draw. Would happily stay here again! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Top Tip: If you come out of the car park and turn left up the lanes there are the most amazing views! Perfect picture opportunities every where up there, it's the more scenic route to the main A road.

The breakfast was gorgeous. Staff always willing to help in anyway. It was very warm over the weekend & we were provided with a fan in our room, without asking. Lovely personal touches.

Really lovely little place, decked out with everything you need. It was quite quirky and full of books, which I loved. The birdsong in the morning was also lovely!

Its a small town on the river, with very few cars so the air quality good. The people are very friendly and the pubs and cafes accomodating. Went to walk by the river so the length of stay just right but if I'd gone for longer I'd get a train north to Aberystwyth for the day, not a bad rail service.

Newtown is a bustling little town but slightly away from the main tourist spots but still an ideal location to go and explore central and north Wales from. Plenty of bars and restaurants and a bit of night life.

I really liked how the owners showed us where everything was in the room. Explained how everything was being run because of Covid
Made sure that my wife fully understood everything, seeing that my wife is deaf!!
The layout of the dining room was very good and the lounge which was at our disposal was lovely
I highly recommend this family run and catered hotel to anyone!! Very handy for Newtown, seeing it is four miles away from the town centre
We will be returning there hopefully soon

Whilst visiting Newtown most if not everyone was adhering to the present pandemic rules in distancing and wearing a face covering in the high street and even in the wetherspoons pub. until you are seated, then you can order off the app and you get excellent table service well controlled. The whole place inside and out felt "safe".The food on offer in the Black Boy pub looked like massive portions too.

Vastly improved after the recent opening of the by-pass: it was once a traffic nightmare. Newtown is on the up without becoming pretentious. Choice of eating places, fascinating history - new town in 1297, non-conformism, liberalism, Pryce Jones the first mail-order company, and a train station. Edge of upland Wales and part of the Severn Valley - a great base for exploring and yet convenient for business trips.

Great little town, plenty of things to do loads of bars, restaurants, shops definitely recommend staying here !! Best place to stay in town is the elephant and castle. The Indian above the spar is a definite must!
Perfect stop over for us en route to Yorkshire from West Wales, just outside Newtown, up along and winding road in the most beautiful countryside. Shane was very accommodating and a swift communicator. I left a dress and he called to let me know so we could arrange to collect it on the way back. The room was super clean and really comfortable with pretty views, and the dinner in the restaurant downstairs was spot on, really good pub food.
Mike the Manager really helpful and friendly. Great central location.
We upgraded to a River view executive room and what a lovely room it was too.
The most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in and so relaxing just listening to the river.
I would imagine the front of hotel to be noisier especially as there is a nightclub opposite.
The cooked breakfast was included and it was very nice.
If we are that way again, we will definitely re book
Having just spent two nights at Parkers House I can't fault this property. The room was very well presented and extremely clean. The bed linen and towels where of a standard you would expect from a 5* hotel. Breakfast was exceptional, the young lady who over saw breakfast was extremely attentive and happy to cater to any individual request. My partner and i are looking to return soon for another relaxing break
We were in Newtown visiting relatives as a family of
4 adults. The location of the townhouse is a nice 3 minute stroll from the centre. The accommodation is over 3 floors and is lovely, clean, warm and comfortable. The host Joe was always available for any queries and was polite and helpful. All in all we had a lovely stay and the accommodation is outstanding value.
Rooms and hotel are clean, food was lovely and staff really friendly and helpful. The Food in the adjoining pub was absolutely lovely and very cheap compared to what I would pay in Suffolk. The hotel is sweet I loved the winding corridors and hidden stairs
Great accommodation, we were upgraded to the self-catering apartment which was excellent. Very spacious and comfortable.
The breakfasts and evening meals were fabulous.
Lots of parking, easy to find, and very welcoming and friendly.
There were books to read many of them. Lovely bed. Comfy sofas. Great parking right outside the door. Loved the fairy lights. If we ever go to Newtown again would recommend the little coach house.
Nothing- run down- no staff- peeling paint all over outside- feels unsafe- no food or drink-booked another hotel as not staying here in a million years- looks ok on pictures- dont be fooled
Having stopped on Newtown as part of a cycling holiday, we were glad this was slightly outside of the town centre. Breakfast was good and the hosts friendly. Great value for money.
A comfortable hotel in an excellent location by the River Severn, in the centre of town. The breakfast was very good (vegetarian option). Parking was easy.
