As we were a family of 4 there was nowhere to just sit as the main chair/sofa was a bed. So had to lay in bed to watch tv. Not ideal but it was ok

Calum was lovely, breakfast was good. Hotel definitely could have been cleaner but was fine for 1 night stay. Probably a bit too expensive for the cleanliness of the place. Parking was good.
The refurbished Ship Inn is a boutique hotel located in the heart of Galloway.

Although this was a very last minute, one night only booking, and we didn't get to experience the full package right down to breakfast or dinner, the hotel 150% met our expectations. Room was spacious, clean with modern, also very clean bathroom.
Couldn't have asked for better. Will definitely book The Ship Inn again should we find ourselves in the area.

Dave and Debbie were such wonderful hosts and so accommodating to my allergies when making breakfast for us. The b&b is so homely and quirky. We were very comfortable and will definitely stay again.

Wigtown is a stunning location to explore Dumfries and Galloway. Beautiful village with a very good choice of shops, cafes and especially book shops. Lovely architecture and places of interest to easily walk from the village. Pretty community garden in the centre of the village.
Vibrant community spirit with activities, services and events posted throughout the village. Although we did not use, there appeared to be a good bus service. The locals were very friendly and offered suggestions for walks and places to visit.

It was difficult to find anywhere local to eat in the evening, a number of local pubs and restaurants have closed or are only open occasionally. On Thursday night there was nowhere nearby to eat as the local Cobwebs restaurant ( where we enjoyed an very good meal on the Wednesday) is closed on Thursday and even the chip shop was only open on Friday and Saturday night. The Bladdennoch inn nearby was open for food but only by chance as the chef was in to prepare for the weekend and served passing customers up until 7:30!
A number of the shops also have what could be described as flexible opening hours - some of them were never open during our stay, which slightly spoiled our visit.

Wigtown is Scotland's official book town, as such, there are a lot of second hand bookshops and plenty of bargains to be had. ReadingLasses bookshop is also a fabulous cafe with the best cakes I have ever tried. A walk to the Marshes is a must and there are lovely walks all around, if you are looking for a peaceful respite this is a fabulous place

Wigtown is the book capital of Scotland with a great selection of shops offering new and second hand books. If you want a relaxing base then this is the place which is also a historical spot where witches were drowned in the nearby bay. Lots of other good places to visit around the Dumfries and Galloway area too.

We went to Wigtown for the Bookshops.
We went to Wigtown for the Bookshops. Plenty of parking available, Wigtown was a lovely peaceful town. It was challenging finding places to eat in the evening as there were still Corona Virus restrictions in place.
Perfect for a short stay in Wigtown! Everything you need in a compact, central space. Entry through the shop was very charming. Very clean and provided all the basics needed for the stay, like washing-up liquid, a fresh sponge, hand soap, etc. etc. (It's amazing how many places DON'T provide such things!) We slept really well on the comfy bed.
The location is excellent for Wigtown - very close yet very quiet. The staff were phenomenal, going out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. They pride themselves on local ingredients for the kitchen and the quality shines through in every delicious bite. The room was cozy, clean, and very functional.
Great location, right in the centre of Wigtown but still very quiet due to the double-glazing. Superfast wifi, which I wasn’t expecting as the details said ‘no internet’. Very clean. Max was very friendly and helpful. She’d left us tea, coffee, milk and a packet of biscuits which was thoughtful.
Everything about my stay was perfect. From the welcome, to the lovely home cooking, to my comfortable room. There was a lovely home feel about Hillcrest which added to my relaxation, but this did not take away from the efficient running of the hotel. Would definitely recommend it to anyone!
Excellent location right in the centre of Wigtown. Easy parking.
The property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The owner had left biscuits, tea and coffee as well as essentials like toilet paper, soap and washing up liquid.
Spacious, central accommodation. We didn‘t want for anything and really enjoyed our stay in Wigtown. The friendly atmosphere made sure the holiday was relaxing for everyone. Contact to the landlord very easy and uncomplicated.
The welcome pack was just perfect. There was lovely outside space. Although on one of the main roads in Wigtown - you would never have known when inside the house - it was serene and comfortable.
Great stay in the heart of Wigtown. Immaculately clean, excellent communication re. keys for entry etc. Fresh milk in the fridge a lovely touch. Can’t fault the place 10/10
Andy and Nic were wonderful hosts great breakfast had 3 course dinner Saturday night could not fault it.We will definitely stay there again Wigtown wonderful place 😀 xx
