Set in 5 acres of woodland gardens, The Mary Mount Hotel is set on the shores of Derwentwater. With countryside views, rooms are en suite. There is also a restaurant and free WiFi throughout. We loved the large room with views up Derwent Water and the large outdoor deck next to a garden area ( room no. 40). The furnishings were very comfortable and included a small table and chairs by the view window. The bathroom had floor heating and the shower was a good size , hot water and with great water pressure. The well staffed restaurant is very large and included a separate section for hikers and people with dogs . The breakfasts were nice and the dinner menu had lots of options and prices very reasonable . The restaurant has lovely views across to the lake and mountain backdrop. The proximity ( about two hundred metres) to the Lodore ferry landing was very convenient and provided an opportunity to do a delightful Derwent Water walk by using the ferry to transfer to another location and walking back to the hotel. There is lots of free parking right at the hotel.

The 18th-century Royal Oak at Keswick is located in the market town of Keswick, just 2 miles from Derwentwater. Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly, helpful, and professional. We asked for a better room due to kitchen exhaust noise and we seemlessly accommodated. It really made our stay! Bartender and restaurant staff also very nice and professional! Decor was cozy and tasteful. In all areas, we were happy!

The hotel and grounds were far more picturesque than we anticipated and it is perfectly situated in Keswick with an easy walk into town and to the start of most walks and Derwentwater. Our room was lovely and although not modern and up to date perfectly reflected the building and its surroundings and everything worked and was clean. The restaurant for breakfast was great and there was more than enough options with a lovely view across the lawn.

This was a very comfortable place to stay. We stayed in 6 different locations on a 2 week tour of England and frankly this was the best bed of any place we stayed. The room was so comfortable. Loved our stay in this recently renovated hotel. We hiked in Whinlatter Forest and explored Keswick, The Ruddings was situated perfectly in the middle. The staff were very helpful, food was delicious, and as someone traveling in a car, there was plenty of parking!
